The leads off Dawn flopped, as good as they were. Label was not bout to let the last Weeknd get clowned into oblivion like they did the last one; so they went with the safest possible choice for a single there could be. At least thats how I see it

But those songs don’t have an edge sonically, the edge comes from the thematic makeup of the song.

Can’t Feel My Face is about as bubblegum as you can get production wise, the lyrical content is what gives it an edge

But I will say for an artist whos been very focused on the visual aspect of their storytelling, its baffling that the MV for the lead single is a glorified iPhone ad. That's extremely disappointing and I think we can all agree on that.
