So, my wife’s boyfriend (yes, wife’s boyfriend, stay mad) works at Hot Topic as head of region—he/they oversees all 7 satellites AND the flagship store in our city. Last night, they got this MASSIVE shipment in, like pallets on pallets of something, and the packaging was mad cryptic. No labels, no branding, just black shrink wrap and a sticker that said “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL FRIDAY” in bold red letters. The kicker? It was accompanied by a memo from corporate saying if anyone opens it early, they’d be fired on the spot and reported to “regional authorities” (wtf does that even mean?).

So obviously, they texted me about it because 1) they’re a blabbermouth, and 2) I’m the only one who doesn’t work at HT who knows how deep the rabbit hole goes. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Back in 2019, they received a shipment like this that turned out to be exclusive Billie Eilish merch that never even hit stores, it was strictly for influencers. Another time, it was those Fallout Nuka Cola energy drinks that Hot Topic never officially sold—like some limited stock only meant for “testing.”

But this time? This feels different. Apparently, the staff are FREAKING out in the group chat. One of the assistant managers (the guy who pierced my wife’s second septum ring, absolute legend) SWEARS he heard something humming inside one of the boxes. I’m not making this up. Another staff member is convinced it’s some kind of experimental Funko Pop drop—like those blacklight versions but more cursed. Meanwhile, my wife’s boyfriend is spiraling, thinking it could be AI-generated merch collabs or some viral marketing stunt where Hot Topic is about to unleash chaos on social media.

Here’s the real tea, though. When the truck driver dropped it off, they were wearing a full-on suit and tie. Not even HT delivery gear, just some Men in Black-level nonsense, and when one of the employees tried to joke about it (“ooh, secret Twilight drop?”), the driver just stared at them for like 10 solid seconds before saying, “You’ll see.” BRO.

Anyway, we’re planning to sneak in Thursday night after close. I’ll update y’all if I don’t get banned from the mall again. If I suddenly stop posting, assume I’ve been taken out by the Hot Topic shadow ops division. Stay safe out there.

Okay, so update on the Hot Topic situation. I wasn’t gonna post this yet because I wanted more proof, but things are getting too weird. My wife’s boyfriend just called me (they NEVER call, always text—red flag already), and they said they overheard the store manager whispering to the assistant manager about “prepping for Thursday night.” And then they dropped the name “Navraj Singh Goraya” like it was no big deal.

Now, if you don’t know (casuals stay out of this), that’s NAV’s real name. Yeah. My guy Navraj. THE NAV. And that’s not all—there’s been these crazy rumors flying around on Twitter and KTT that his feature on The Weeknd’s new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, is dropping this week. Supposedly Thursday night. So you’re telling me Hot Topic, of all places, is sitting on some mysterious embargoed shipment at the same time? Nah, it’s not a coincidence.

Think about it: The Weeknd’s whole vibe lately has been dark, mysterious, post-apocalyptic. Exactly the kind of aesthetic Hot Topic lives for. This could be some kind of collab drop—exclusive merch, vinyls, maybe even special edition Dawn FM figures or something. AND get this: my wife’s boyfriend said the shrink wrap on the pallets wasn’t black—it was deep red with these weird silver streaks running through it. That’s literally on-brand for The Weeknd. Have y’all seen the visuals he’s been teasing lately? Blood-red skies, metallic accents, the whole “last night on Earth” vibe.

But here’s what’s really messing me up. A few days ago, someone on 4chan claimed that Hot Topic stores were going to “play a key role” in The Weeknd’s album rollout. Nobody took it seriously because it sounded ridiculous, but now? I’m connecting the dots. Hot Topic doesn’t just get random unmarked shipments with strict NDAs. This is BIG. Corporate big. Music industry big.

I’m 90% sure this package has something to do with Hurry Up Tomorrow, and if I’m right, we’re talking a HISTORIC moment in Hot Topic history. Like, bigger than the Twilight merch boom, bigger than My Chemical Romance reunion tees.

Anyway, I’m pulling up to the mall tonight with a flashlight and bolt cutters because I need answers. If I end up in jail or on TMZ, you know why. Let me know if y’all hear anything else because I feel like I’m losing it over here. Abel, if you’re reading this, please just DM me and put me out of my misery.

I had a panic attack this morning

I had a panic attack this morning while driving to work. I was listening to The Weeknd’s latest singles when suddenly a rush of feelings washed over me, I honestly couldn’t do it justice by describing it, however it felt close to a panic attack, I was thinking about HUT, this rollout, and 22 of November. It’s only 4 days away, then I looked at the clock and it was very early morning and I thought to myself oh my god time is so f***ing slow and it won’t pass away.

I thought what if the album does drop on this day, suddenly I couldn’t catch my breath and my heart was pounding so fast.

If this happens to you, take deeeeep breaths.

    Everything is gonna be okay.

Bro, this is insane, but also same. I deadass just read your comment and had to step outside because I started pacing around my living room like I was in an A24 film. My wife’s boyfriend came in and was like, “Are you good?” and I straight-up said, “No. Time isn’t real and neither is my sanity.”

Like, the idea of Hurry Up Tomorrow actually dropping on the 22nd feels like a cosmic EVENT. You’re out here having a panic attack in your car, I’m over here writing my will because what if this album completely redefines music and I’m not emotionally prepared for it? Deep breaths, you say? I’ve been breathing so deep I accidentally hyperventilated into a Hot Topic bag.

And can we talk about how this whole rollout is literally gaslighting us? Abel’s been dropping hints like a breadcrumb trail, and now we’re out here losing our minds while the man himself is probably sipping wine on a yacht, laughing at us. Bro, I don’t even know if I’ll make it to Thursday without a doctor’s note. Hang in there, we’re in this together. If we both survive, meet me at Hot Topic. First round of limited print HUT vinyls on me.
