Im still hyped but this guy should start to release more info because thereâs a decent chance of this album leaks in the coming days and he will look like a fool with merch and digital deluxes. Maybe he made sure to keep this album locked away until the 31th but itâs still out there in a lot of stores and he acting too comfortable with this rollout imo.
"darkR&B/rap fusion that WE've loved him for"
You donât love dark R&B/rap Weeknd?
this nigga blew up from pop, and ain't nobody want this singer to rap i truly promise you. popular is not dark nor rap and creepin too
once the albums out and we've had it for a few months we're gonna look back and be like yeah the rollout was drawn out but we actually got so much s***
the three trailers
the sao paulo show
the open hearts apple debacle
the billions club
this merch drop
etc, etc
I still donât subscribe to the theory that the rollout has been bad or lacking.
But there have definitely been some baffling choices made throughout

ive loved it
this drop is the first thing thats given me pause but literally only because of how it was handled with the countdown and lack of information
maybe the gp has saturation fatigue
this man has been going crazy since 2020
Dawn fm was released too soon in my opinion

I donât mean rap rap, I mean when he was releasing music that was more adjacent to the rap world. Popular leans more towards the rap side of things than it does the synth pop side of things, and Creepinâ literally has rap verses on it
my brother in christ, we have heard almost the entire thing already
Not in cdq you havenât. Iâm assuming youâre referring to the SĂŁo Paulo show, snippets, or leaks. I havenât been paying much attention to snippets or leaks so thatâs kinda on you if your hype is dead cuz of em
Nobodyâs saying Weeknd should start spitting 16s lmao you know what I mean by R&B/rap fusion
A song like Popular is more appealing to people who like R&B/rap than it is to people who enjoy synth pop

yeah after hours still had a lot of steam left on the charts

Ehh, there are plenty of major artists who have been just as active in similar timeframes who donât seem to have a waning GP-interest like Weeknd does. I think a big part of it is his dedication to the synthpop stuff in this trilogy (not complaining, I love it, but I could understand why casual audiences would not in 2025)

i think fans also like the non synth pop adjacent tracks on the studio albums more than the former too
