Facts there is no AH without MDM
MDM->We're Alone Together<-After Hours
just realized that SB is in two weeks, they are for sure dropping the movie trailer there
r/TheWeeknd is literally just people making threads about the same topic over and over and over again itâs truly baffling
every time i go on there and get annoyed i just remember theyâre literally all like 16 years old and then it starts to make sense
MDM->We're Alone Together<-After Hours
My theory to this day is that the first 5-6 songs of After Hours were originally supposed to be Weâre Alone Together

Bits and pieces. Alone Again pretty much 100% based on the Frank Dukes production. Like every Abel album, multiple unheard versions are created before the chapter is finalized. DaHeala always is in there from the ground up. Then you have the Max sessions. Then insert Illangelo/OPN/Doc/Mike Dean/etc. The ebb and flow switched up in 2020...had plenty of time to conceptualize the rest of the new Trilogy during lockdown and come to terms with...himself

Yeah a lot of the concepts and skeleton of the trilogy is created during 2018
Starboy was the soundtrack to the end of 2016 and into 2017 for me, personally love that album

Yes. The Uncut Gems era/OPN link up was a blessing. Not just for the music but also to give even more fuel for Abel's ambition. Read any OPN interview and you see just how creative of a mind he is. Those hours of discussion in the studio about the concepts of living, dying, and being reborn lead to what we're about to receive. I mean he literally read an excerpt from the Duino Elegies on EAIT. That doesn't happen without OPN
We really got that and Blonde in a span of like 3 months
American pop culture really peaked in 2016
this song man
Wish this song got more love by the GP man, what a track
Also, I feel like After Hours having as many huge songs as it did in the back half kinda makes the first half of the album overlooked and underrated.
Feel like I never see people talk about songs like Too Late, Hardest To Love, and Scared To Live
trying to forcefully label abel some insano genius who planned the trajectory of his discography is so ridiculous man
he admitted to not knowing where to go after starboy, scrapped 3-4 albums in the last 10 years lol

You seriously donât think this trilogy was planned out?
trilogy was most likely conceived during dawn sessions with opn. not 2018 when he was skeletoning AH with just daheala and max lol. even illangelo was a late addition
my theory is that the first trilogy was EPâs, so MDM era, but they simply reworked it into one album, and once they finished AH, he decided to rework the concept into this trilogy

It has literally been stated several times... After Cannes, a lot of projects were started.... Stop acting like his career hasn't been mapped out and like he isn't an artist with a vision. It's getting tiring

Yes it does get over the top sometimes....but he's been ready to kill off The Weeknd for many years (music videos speak for themselves). He just had more to achieve and more maturing to do (both musically and personally) to reach this point he's seen in the distance for quite some time. Not to mention the stability he now has in his relationship. Regardless of what happens in the heaven/hell storyline of HUT...he's ready for the peace he's been searching for after all the pain, heartbreak, and anxiety that comes with being an artist of his magnitude.
