i just disagree on that tbh. him closing the weeknd chapter and being so self referential doesn't make it inherently fan service. his relationship with the weeknd/abel personas is something he's always played with. in my eyes it's like calling rolling stone fan service, it's apart of the artist narrative and relationship with the character first before the audience. and it was catalyzed by a real event that happened to him. i feel like it's the most genuine he's been basically ever

i legit get emotional everytime when he starts talking about being in the tub with his mom on the title track and brings it full circle from baptized in fear. i rarely see people bring it up too. never been that vulnerable before
