Holy f*** Starboy is HOW old

I was 15 when that dropped where the f*** did time go

this is what i imagined memento would evolve into

In terms of strictly cultural impact, Starboy is defo 2nd out of all his albums

It somehow garnered that over time. When it dropped it wasn’t anywhere near as big of a moment as BBTM was when that released.

But Starboy has held strong over the past 9 years, for one reason or another

idk if im bugging but I swear I remember Starboy having huge momentum, especially with the single being one of the biggest of 2016

It was a successful release don’t get me wrong, but it felt very lowkey in the moment

It sold 64K less first week than BBTM did

The rollout was pretty short - started with the release of Starboy the single at the end of September and then the album dropped two months later

It was definitely successful for sure, but he didn’t have the world on fire like he had in Spring/Summer 2015 during the lead-up to BBTM
