music videos probably aren't connected between albums, and are more self-contained, but music itself is basically a recap of Dante's Divine Comedy. After Hours is Hell, Dawn FM is Purgatory, and next one is supposed to be Paradise i guess.

As TLDR as possible: In After Hours character processes the breakup with a lover, tries to distract himself, fails, and ends up OD'ing over it, putting him into coma (hinted by the final track of the Deluxe edition). Which leads into Dawn FM, and that coma state is essentially a purgatory for the character, where he relives and reminisces on his past until he's ready to let go and move on.

wouldn't the fact that he scrapped an album before Dawn FM mean that the current trilogy concept was more of a recent development?

And Idol i think maybe somewhat true, when Manic Phase was registered in 2021, Reza posted that they came up with something during Cannes 2018, which would be early AH sessions.
