Let’s get one thing clear, the Tim storyline this season is not just the worst of the season, it’s the worst of the whole series and is almost single-handedly the reason why this season pales in comparison to the first 2

7 episodes of this f***ing guy moping around, popping lorazepam like they’re skittles, having vague phone conversations about his exposed hedge fund scheme, & having fantasies about pulling a Chris Benoit. Every episode is the same s*** with him, rinse & repeat. The story has not moved a single f***ing inch, he’s known about the situation since literally episode 1 and he STILL HASN’T TOLD ANYONE. And he isn’t even downward spiraling either, he’s literally just on screen d***ged out of his mind 24/7 and that’s all we get. A complete and utter waste of Jason Isaacs

    This is facts

Absolutely brain dead post. What other character besides Tim or Laurie (maybe rick and frank) has shown more than 3 different emotional states? With Tim you get great physical acting ,dream scenes where he murders his family , actual doom causing set ups after each ep especially the next one,wtf is this season without him?

  • IM_NOLONGER_ ANAZI

I know Laurie and Tim are tired from
Carrying this season , those two are really going for it imo, it seems like every other character is just a passerby there to say a funny quip than to the next scene

Yeah I’m with you on this one brother, Jason Isaacs/Tim stans unite

What I love about Mike White is his main goal in writing isn’t to give crazy twists and turns at every opportunity. It’s always to provide the most honest interpretation of how these characters would actually respond to any given situation. It provides for great TV because you’re able to watch something REAL (even if what’s real is stagnant/redundant, like in Tim’s case).

You can’t tell me there aren’t tons of people who if they were placed in Tim’s same exact situation, wouldn’t just want to do what he does — not tell anyone, and keep up the facade in this paradise resort vacation as long as possible. All the while internalizing it all to yourself and trying to hide it the best you can. Again, plot wise it might not make for the most action, but if you’re interested in television that portrays life as it truly is, it’s amazing writing

That’s how I viewed it as well. The last little week of peace before his world crumbles and numbing yourself to the reality of it all with the pills. Probably not far off.

Okay ima add you to the list of people who actually understands the show.

I deadass can not figure out what some of these people want.

Matter of fact, for everyone complaining about Tim’s storyline, put your creative hat on and tell me what you would have preferred to see from his character these past few episodes.

Don’t say “something other than be high” because that’s a cheap cop out. What would you actually wanna see? Given his current situation what is there for him to actually do?

  • Tim’s character went from:
Enjoying his vacation with his family and being the Alpha Male

To finding out some s*** might’ve went down at work

To stealing his wife’s pills to handle his stress

To finding out the feds are on his ass and he’s lost everything and going to prison

To stealing a gun to kill himself

To contemplating not only killing himself but his family too

Yet fans: Blah all he does is get high boringgggg

This is like saying “all the 3 friends do is bicker and act fake, boring”

“All Saxon does is try and have sex, boring”

Y’all watch this show with the entire context removed and instead wanna see action and twist happen every two seconds.

Alright scratch what I said earlier. Me simply saying “niggas just don’t understand the show” or “yall just want Michael bay type action” is a weak rebuttal.

The actual issue here is majority of people want to see EXTERNAL conflict. With the three friends, we see external conflict because they are arguing with each other. Rick’s storyline is an external issue because there is someone there for him to combat against. Saxon story is external because he has his conflict with Chelsea and Lochlan. Belinda VS Greg.

Pretty much every character has had conflict arise due to another character on the show, so we are able to see that back and forth. Everyone except Tim. Tim’s conflict has been entirely internal. He has a secret of what’s going on back home and hasn’t told his family. And being he hasn’t told anybody it remains internal. So when Victoria is saying “I don’t think I can continue living if we’re broke” the conflict isn’t Victoria yelling at Tim for losing money, the conflict is Tim feeling guilt knowing “bitch we are broke and now I don’t know how to tell you”.

Pipers story was also internal at first but it became external when she told her family; and now we see an external battle with her and her mom.

Some people appreciate seeing an internal battle and things being more nuanced but I believe majority rather see EXTERNAL conflict, it makes the plot move quicker. You get to see two characters going at it like Shane vs Armand. It’s entirely character driven still but the conflict is external.
