still cant start this series idk why
it's a slow burn for sure, but the payoff is huge and i can already feel me doing the birdman handrub.gif in preparation for the extra details i missed out on.
give it a chance b

I posted on the Last TV show u watched thread about my summary of my first watch
But I wanted to ask the wire watchers about their opinion on McNulty
I didn't like the guy until season 5 and his unique storyline
Idk I just didn't like the so 2000s ass way he was carrying himself
The show doesn't even have side characters you could argue
Everyone is as important
All the pieces matter

mcnulty was just an a****** but he was morally in the right like 80% of the time
his serial killer scheme was pretty stupid but justified considering what was going on

Not the character itself
I mean the guy how he acts s*** just annoyed me so idk I'm asking essentially if it's an unpopular opinion or not 😂

I like him generally but the last season his character & his whole plan is insufferable & stupid

I was the opposite
I liked the his ending arc more than I liked him whole show
I actually enjoyed season 4 the most considering he had the least screen time

i like that they intentionally write him to be someone who always thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room without making him some unrealistic, Sherlock Holmes-esque prodigy. that makes his almost entirely unwarranted arrogance funny to me, so i never really had an issue with his “my way or the highway” schtick. i see how it could be annoying if you don’t like that trope, though

Generation Kill is a must must watch. Fantastic miniseries. All too undermentioned.
I clocked where they were trying to make him smarter and the scenes where he goes over-explaining to bunk and lester like would crack a case and they would just humble him is some good writing
Like you said, it's not some Sherlock type thing
I couldn't explain my disliking of him though
It's like I was annoyed when he was on the screen meanwhile everyone else was unique and interesting
Proposition Joe himself did what the suits do in court, he would just do it on the street
I love the mirroring situations on how no matter what side of the law you are there's always structure and discipline to a certain field
More times than not you see the cops side break the "law" more than the criminals do
Show been on my list a long time because I thought it was boring, very intriguing watch though
