One of the most striking things to me is that so many people seem to lack the ability or the want to imagine that there is another way of organizing society than what we already have. I truly have no idea why this is, but I suspect it might be due to the strength of capitalist propaganda. Not only does it breed selfishness, meaningless material pursuits, but it allows people to think that they are somehow living outside of a system, and that the individual is the greatest unit in society. Capitalism's (and really liberalism's) focus on the individual has brainwashed society to a point where people will believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, that through hard work, a good idea or two, and simply staying on the grind that they will get rich and reach the upper strata of society, that they alone have the formula for beating the odds and overcoming all the barriers put in their way, because capitalists have allowed them to believe they have a great degree of freedom.

Any attempts to come up with an alternative to this system (namely a socialist society) are met with extreme vitriol most of the time. Not only can people not imagine that alternative, but they think so lowly of their fellow humans that they believe such a system would never work because of some b******ized idea they have of human nature. To them, the only viable system is one that pits us in direct competition with members of the same social class, working away for starvation wages for wealthy elites who allow us to maintain an illusion of freedom. Even the most shallow of research would allow one to get a good grasp of all the man made atrocities going on as a direct result of capitalism, yet most people still refuse to believe there is an alternative or any systemic injustices at work.

So my question is; Why are the people who at least seem to be aware of these injustices so willing to defend them in the name of capitalism, and why are people so incapable of imagining a better alternative?

the illuminati or whoever the f***, has a stranglehold on society.

I think there was hope in like the 70s/80s, but at this point, we've let them become so powerful that there's very little to do but stick to the status quo and try to make it out thru that.

Unless of course you've got crazy talent, but at that point you're liable to be hypnotized by the riches and the privileges of that kind of lifestyle.

It's really sad, yes. But you've gotta play the game long enough to break free from it imo. Obviously, some people will never make it out. Some don't realize it, some are fine with it.

Imagination is useless if the real world is ignored or not taken into account.

I can imagine a beautiful world that is peaceful where everyone is happy and we all work 36 hours a week doing a job we love. Education is free, prisons are gone, homes are free, food is free, clothes are free, medicine is free. You never have to pay a dime for anything because money no longer exists.

But if I don't tell you exactly how we're gonna get to that point and then tell you why and how it would work in this very real world we live in then it's nothing more than some bullshit I made up in my head.

I've asked you many questions about this socialist fantasy land you desperately want to live in and I never get any answers. How is someone supposed to support that idea then?

You're literally living through a historical pandemic that cannot be contained in this country because of people's ignorance and you're telling me I'm wrong for thinking so lowly of people?

The same country that voted in Donald Trump

The same country that: election after election, we choose between turd sandwiches that are endorsed by the majority of us.

And that's not even mentioning the plethora of personal experiences that have shown me the true nature of some people.

I know how to spot decent, all around people, but it's kind of rare.

I think the way to start is to improve education ten fold.

There's WAY less ignorant smart people than ignorant dumb people.

its a little presumptuous of you to think that the ONLY metric for imagination is whether or not people want a communist revolution

lowkey this too. no disrespect bc synopsis comes through with some good points occasionally, but a synopsis idea is literally almost always "abolish x bad thing".

you're not a creative genius for realizing that everyone deserves food and housing or that people shouldn't have to work for "starvation wages"

And I wouldn’t even feel a type of way if the man would just talk normal. There’s so much nonsense and filler in what he’s saying. It’s funny he’ll make an op like that but respond to every post in a thread with s*** like “idk I’m not a professional” or “why are you asking me that’s not my job”.

If you wanna start a dialogue cool, but don’t start one and run around in circles when people actually question what the f*** you’re saying.

Idk why y'all weirdos do this in every thread lol. first, these aren't my ideas. this line of thinking was mainly inspired by capitalist realism by mark fisher. the landlord thing is seen throughout socialist theories and even by guys like adam smith. the prison abolition idea is of course one found in a ton of works. no one is talking about being a genius for any of it, the issue is that some people don't realize it.

You are a troll Will. I don't know why you think I'm ever going to take anything you say in good faith. Over the course of your time on this forum you have pretended to be white, asian, whatever fits you at the moment. You have advocated for the genocide of muslims, and posted a litany of other opinions that could only be considered bottom of the barrel. I don't care to discuss how to get there with you, a non troll, because I don't see the need to down a f***ing rabbit hole of "but what if this happens" or "that would never work" or "thats not how it works in reality" or "no one would do that" etc., etc.,

okay but you clearly subscribe to these ideas and if you're going to start a discussion about them you should try to defend your views, otherwise these posts are pointless.
