It’s not this easy.
Its actually even easier.
If you say "i think i have adhd", you will likely have to go to a different psychiatric clinic and get tested for adhd
But you can walk into many physician offices and say "i have a hard time staying motivated throughout the day during class/work" and they will write you a prescription for adderall.
Me and at least a dozen of my friends all did this in college at multiple different doctors.
Now imagine taking that s*** for the rest of your life. People were s***ting on me for suggesting that this may be a bad long term solution
People in this thread, like most people, have only exposed themselves to a limited amount of information. You’re right, ignore everyone else.

Maybe they tightened up because many college students were using this method
It didnt exactly work for me
why not
bc now i can’t function with adderall
i went my entire life being ADHD and was diagnosed AFTER I finished law school. after i finished all my schooling i started using addy. i never used adderall during my educational tenure.
now i have a prescription and i take it every week weekday. and i’ve gotten hooked on it, i can’t function without it; i’m literally useless - days i forget to take it are a wash bc i know s*** isn’t getting done
and then in the weekends i have no energy bc my body is too used to being amped up by the addys on weekdays. so i either pop an addy on the weekend to stay up or i struggle with no energy without it

I hope you’re able to ween yourself off it man. S*** is no joke and not a lot of people talk about this side of adderall. I would say try to designate days where you intend to be unproductive and skip the pill. Best of luck
I swear ppl heard Kendrick said “I let my soul speak, you let the meds talk” and discounted an entire field of research
A lot of people have biases (maybe justified) or personal experiences that doesn't allow them think more objectively.
For example, I've tried numerous SSRIs and none of them s***s worked and gave me side effects. Yet, you won't see me going out of my way to dismiss the positive effect they can have if used right. Everyone's body chemistry reacts differently to d**** anyway.

that’s the goal. i think i’m gonna stop taking them on friday’s since those are my easy days anyway
thanks for the well wishes brother 🤝🏽

surely your psychiatrist eventually mentioned NDRIs or SNRIs and didn't just keep you rotating thru SSRIs?
It is not hard to get addy at all lol
Legit had to talk to a nurse practitioner over the phone and just like that it happened

Given the length of time for those type of d**** to start working, I didn't feel like it was worth it to cycle through everything. I inquired about other options and I was eventually prescribed benzodiazepines PRN and everything worked out.

glad you were able to find something that worked

lotta anecdotal evidence itt s*** makes my head hurt fr.
I got diagnosed and got a reccomendation, I just need to see a doctor.
Really excited to get on them stims. Sick of self medication, been white knuckling for 24 years cuz my adhd was missed as a child
what is white knuckling and how did it get missed? im pretty sure i got ADHD as well but i never saw a doctor for it where do i even go

Oh for sure. They’re not for everyone. But I feel like a lot of sentiment on here is just blindly anti medication when they actually help a LOT of people. Make your own decisions and do your own research always, but just personally SSRIs have helped a ton
The same way that a lot of people go from opiates to heroin/fentanyl is the same way people go from ADHD meds to meth
I think the greatest risk in that pipeline of adhd d**** are especially in short acting amphetamines. risk of abuse, diversion and gateway to harsher d**** are much less when initiated on long acting methylphenidates ex) concerta, biphentin etc. uncontrolled adhd creates a greater risk of substance use disorder as many young adults have psychiatric comorbidities that lower their aversion to risk and their consequences.
definitely seeing newer prescribers stray from handing short actings out like before.

Do you remember how long you went thru the acclimation period before deciding that specific d*** wasn’t for you?
