  • In 2010, A French TV crew went to see the Yawalapiti, an Amazonian tribe that is rather cut off from the world. They have limited contact with modern culture. The crew showed them various footage on a TV set and asked what they knew and had heard about. One of the things they saw was a clip from a Michael Jackson concert. The natives knew right away who that was.

Their knowledge of the modern world was very limited, but they still knew who Jackson was.

    That says a lot.

There is a unique quality in Michael Jackson that is mesmerizing to all humans. It is the look, the strangeness, and the talent. It makes for a memorable experience. Those natives may have heard about some famous people, but Michael Jackson left a stronger impression.

Across the world, in all cultures and countries, Jackson was present through modern technology and media. He was the spokesperson for family entertainment. He wasn’t too adult-oriented, like Madonna. He entered every home in the world through TV.

To put this idea into perspective, it was estimated that the premiere of the “Black or White” video, in 1991, was seen around the world by 500 million people. That is just the premiere TV screening of a single music video, mind you.

His interview with Oprah Winfrey in 1993 was watched by 90 million people in the USA alone, making it the most watched interview in the history of television and, at the time, the fourth most watched program in history (not including sports).

His memorial service in 2009 was watched by 2 billion people.

Nobody ever achieved any of that. That’s how famous he was.

So no disrespect to Drake, The Weeknd, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars...but there will never be “another Michael Jackson”

  • Facts. Certain artists like Chris Breezy, Usher, Bruno Mars & The Weeknd all carry some of the qualities that made MJ, but never the complete package. Man had the complete package at five years old, who can really compete?

There never will be another MJ. Streams are massively over inflated too if we're being honest. To get somebody to want to go out and buy a CD of an artist means so much more than just being on a subscription service and clicking play on a song that is right there.

Like the fact Thriller was literally an album that had become a staple for any household in the world is the kind of thing no album will ever accomplish again.
