If an upcoming rapper or someone who isn't super lyrically intensive has great beats, so many people act like they're being "carried by their beats".

If an established rapper has great beats, they're usually properly acknowledged, even if their rapping is lackluster on these tracks. People say they have "great beat selection".

This double standard just compounds upon itself, rappers have a hard time losing this reputation (good or bad).

People just need to acknowledge rappers who make good music as talented, if it was so easy to get carried by beats then there would be a lot more rappers out there making tolerable music.

Well obvi a new rapper with weak bars and a good beat is going to be carried by the beat

And a good rapper with good bars and with a good beat is a great combo.

It’s just the process of trying to become a good rapper
