You cannot convince me that a civilian living in this country needs to own any kind of assault weapons. Why?

For protection? Please. Do you really need a AK-47 with a 25 clip or something of the like to protect yourself from a intruder.

You have rifles, handguns and shotguns that can surely protect you from any circumstance.

For collecting? If you’re some weird gun nut then the best compromise I can tell you is that you’re allowed to own said assault weapon, but it’s completely modified to not take any ammo, ammo purchase for assault weapons would be banned in the country . You have to register that specific weapon that you own at the time and update that list yearly.

Entertainment: Gun parks or places where you can do some tactical training bs and shoot targets should still be allowed . The business that offers those kind of service are the ones that handle and distribute the guns.

Not saying any of these restrictions would help any kind of gun violence in this country , but I strongly believe that any normal citizen shouldn’t have a f***ing Uzi or a LMG or a f***ing assault weapon that can fire 30 shots in mere seconds.

The elephant in the room is that it’s more about them being a hobby and people just being gun enthusiasts than it is about actual self defense.

And I get it, I shot a rifle for the first time in bootcamp and it’s pretty cool.

But I can’t imagine NEEDing one in my personal life.

I heard an AR is fun to shoot though.

It’s better to have a gun and never need it rather than not have a gun and a time comes when you actually need it.

There is no valid reason for the public to own any weapons.

They're hardly responsible for deaths, compared to handguns, rifles make up a tiny .05% of firearm deaths

    ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-11.xls

So why ban something that hardly makes up the murder pool???

  • Sep 1, 2020

You want to ban it purely off of emotions, banning rifles won't even dent murder rates by even a whole percent and at best maybe by. 05%

Because owning and shooting rifles is cool?

How about no designer clothes, no hi fi audio equipment, no sports cars, just the bare minimum.

    Sounds fun

Yeh nothing wrong with a handgun or shotgun or hunting rifle

ARs and s***, I don’t see the need for public ownership, however, I don’t see a problem with gun ranges having them available to shoot for enthusiasts

The purpose of the second amendment is for protection against government tyranny
Given the amendment was enacted centuries ago, obviously the government could very easily drop bombs from a b2 bomber and kill us all... however in what realistic situation would members of the military which consist of less than 2% of the US population would turn their backs on their own citizens out of government orders
The second amendment nowadays is more of an insurance policy to let the government know they can’t just run up on us without fear of civil retaliation
I know owning guns has its cons, but in the grand scheme of things it keeps us from a dictatorship or socialist state

Are you dumb or do you just not know history?

  • The public can’t legally own assault rifles

Military-style weapons available to the public aren’t assault rifles

Feels like you’re being facetious with this one b, i don’t think the OP wants to strip us of all material possessions, just specifically the one which can kill dozens of people in a very short amount of time

This doesn’t really answer the OP’s point tho, what reason would you have for needing an assault rifle that wouldn’t be satisfies by owning one of the many other guns the OP mentioned?
