Lmao, I think it's that he represents EXACTLY what I dislike in music, hardcore music theory stuff that band kids love but doesn't stir any emotional response at all, people praise him for being talented, but it's more that he's super knowledgeable with zero taste

I feel like my dislike of his stuff helps me better understand what I DO like in music, and the fascination that other haters have with him probably comes from a similar place

At the same time tho I think he definitely has potential to apply his music theory skills to make something good, and again, seems like a very nice, if extremely privileged kid

No white knights, just seems weird to hyper focus on one artist when the same can be said for a lot of noms and winners on most years.

Listen I'm a Tinashe fan and you can laugh at her sales all you want, that album she put out this year - 333 - was fire and at least it had the internet forums buzzing and went number 1 on Spotify.

What did H.E.R. achieve? Most people don't even know she put out a record. She's just living off her traditional RnB image which some people like as they hate the way most women act like thots in the music industry aka Meg or Doja. I can get with it but you need to provide music. At least the thotties give you some bops(no pun intended), H.E.R. doesn't even do that.

Jon batiste got these many noms off of 3 different albums and 1 movie soundtrack. per album/project he only has a few noms each, which is fairly regular.
