There was a lot of potholes like this throughout the movie that just had to exist otherwise the characters wouldn't have a fighting chance. There's no reason why they weren't immediately killed and replaced with clones as soon as they found out about their secret lab and s***
Yeah thatâs true. I was willing to look past that part as regular movie s*** to keep the story going
I was also expecting when they stormed the lab one of the scientists would say black Olympus to control them. Maybe besides Foxx character they werenât clones tho? In the strip club they were able to take control of everyone through music
I still liked the movie for what it is. A cool throwback to blaxploitation movies with interesting sci-fi twists and some jokes/quips that actually made me laugh. As long as you donât overthink it and let the plot play out the way it has to youâll have fun with it

Yeah didn't really make sense how they successfully took over the lab when the CIA guys were shown to have the ability to easily control the clones.. I suppose the villains just had to be stupid otherwise our protagonists would've been cooked in the first 20 minutes of the film

Last 20-30 mins or so fell flat for some reason.
My biggest gripe with these type of films is when that happens
Watching. 45 mins left, it feels long. I dig the atmosphere tho.
Just got to the part where Fontaine finds out his mama is vintage AI
Yeah, thatâs my only problem, I felt the drag, but I donât know why I felt that way
Itâs not a super long movie, and everything was pretty interesting, itâs just a little exhausting at a point
I felt the drag when they were in the labs in the stolen suits
But watching it a second time it didn't feel that way
This movie is a classic
Loved them leaving the Tyrone reveal to the end. That was dope
hate that these Netflix releases that donât ever make it to Blu-ray/4K smh, same thing happened with Da 5 Bloods. Annihilation & Irishman are the only ones Iâve secured
this mightâve been a crossover hit if it reached a wide release

Yeah the best bet is when Criterion does a release. They did it for Irishman, Roma, Marriage story.
When was Annihilation a Netflix film? I was able to buy that one
But I agree this wouldâve done better if it got a theatrical release. And a new release date, releasing same day as Barbie and Opp didnât do it any good even tho it was the best film out the 3

US had a theatrical release but international folk had it straight to streaming
I did manage to catch a one-off q&a screening here back then with Garland + the composers which was sick
