soapmanwunI wouldn't rule out them being carbon based because water is apparently really common in the universe
I'm thinking the problem will be their DNA, because unless they evolved in an environment that's almost exactly the same as ours then their DNA (or whatever they use to pass genetic information) is going to be too different from ours
I think this would only rule out the effects of things like Viruses, and how Viral DNA exists in biological environments that aren’t DNA based isn’t really well known since, well, DNA is foundational to terrestrial life.
Bacteria could still propagate and multiply in those foreign entities if they provide nutrients and no immune response
