Is someone here a firefighter? How do you like and dislike the job?

Do i have to be an emt as well or is that separate?

How busy am I going to be? Do you work 12 or more hours a day so i have enough free time?

Is it true firefighters make up to 71k their third year?

    What made you decide this

cuz i was gonna join the air force to be a fire fighter but they won’t accept me cuz of my tattoos on my hands. it’s pretty strict. and it seems like a fun job n you get payed pretty nicely.

It’s more of an EMT job, fighting fires is scary (obv) but it’s a bit of a novelty since most of the time you’re dealing with things like car accidents, sick old people, etc. Could you handle a gruesome scene after an accident? Watching the family cry? Could you handle carrying an old man who’s covered in his own s***?

Their shifts go 24hrs on 24hrs off x3, then a 4 day break. You make good money $50-80k (even more if you’re a captain or chief). Also the department you choose to work for makes a big difference

I’ve heard it’s an extremely draining job. And you’re prone to seeing really f***ed up s*** sometimes. How do you deal?
