Current fireman here. I'd say just go to school. It's an okay job but you really work your ass off for little money.

little money?
little money?
I once fought several house fires over the course of two weeks. One which I fell through the attic on and my check didn't even crack a stack.

damn that’s something to consider
Idk man I'd say skip the middle man and just be a nurse. Fighting fire is an incredible experience but there's better jobs.
oh i thought you were teasin me saying to go on reddit, which i just got done doin.
Can you live in a 1-2k rented home while on a fireman salary?
wgat was training like? do you have the option to train part time if you already have a job or is this a dormitory place to train
Can easily afford $1,500 rent, could do 2k if you’re like debt free and working OT. It can be done. I know firefighter that almost break 200k a year with OT.
Training was 6 months, wasn’t too bad but it is strenuous. Just gotta want it. It’s f***ing worth it lol. Amazing benefits. We had 4 days working, 4 days off in training. Could not work another job, but you were paid.
I work 2 day works, 7am-5pm
Then 2 night work, 5pm-7pm. I literally only work 6 months out of the year with my schedule

F***ing yikes. What city you in?
Is someone here a firefighter? How do you like and dislike the job?
Do i have to be an emt as well or is that separate?
How busy am I going to be? Do you work 12 or more hours a day so i have enough free time?
Is it true firefighters make up to 71k their third year?
yeah my dad is a lieutenant he's making a little over a 100k
I’ve heard it’s an extremely draining job. And you’re prone to seeing really f***ed up s*** sometimes. How do you deal?
It can be and we do see some f***ed up stuff, but idk I’m built for it
How many years you got on?
