SizzurpSteveSee i’m at odds with his music post IYRTITL. I always have liked every project that has been put out. Views is great, More Life is slept on, Scorpion I also enjoy a ton, DLDT is fantastic, CLB, Honestly Nevermind, and Her Loss are also solid projects. I also have gripes with those projects as well parts of it or some songs and it is what it is. With this newest album to me it just feels different (all the internet nonsense aside)
This album to me just feels not all that great it isn’t hitting like the others did first listens. The only short projects post IYRT are DLDT and Honestly Nevermind (sure Her Loss as well). Everything else is 20 songs, 22 songs, 25 songs, 21 songs and now 23 songs. There is something to be said about these long track lists endlessly for sure.
As much as I enjoy his new stuff I will always love the older stuff for sure i’ve just come to terms with that. He easily did anywhere from 15-19 tracks on these old projects and the songs were just more engaging. At least for me especially from first listen to say 5 years later. Sure time will tell with the new record but to me I feel like people are clinging onto what will never come back. He’s in a different place now musically and has to evolve otherwise we’d be talking about how he hasn’t changed musically.
It’s a huge thing to discuss because everybody has their own issues with these projects now. Including myself and it can range from what people are hating the most about it. From the track lists being way too long, filler tracks, effortless songs, corny lyrics, idk anything people come up with lol.
I just take it for what it is these days with music especially an artist of his caliber. He’s trying to appeal to a lot of people and I get it. People can be too harsh or too nice and overlook things. It’s important to have a convo about it rather than s***ting on things and people for likes. I know not many will read my riff lol but hey if you want to i’m more than happy to have a discussion about this project or previous ones.
i understand where ur coming from, my main gripe is that this album is the first time his complacency and filler has overshined the great/good tracks from the project. only having 13 or so good tracks on a 23 song album is wild

They are relistening to songs and catching s*** they didn’t catch on first listen. Production and melodies probably hit different for them after a few listens. Going from one listen to a few is you spending time with the music. I’ve seen people catch s*** and say they didnt hear it the first time.

For me I liked 15 of em i’m just not really vibing with it entirely still. To me it should have been shorter but what do I know i’m glad I got 15 new songs I liked. Make a playlist and call that the album lol it just is what it is at this point.

agreed. just frustrating we got to this point where we as fans have to completely restructure his projects so they fit any semblance of a well thought out album and not a playlist

He literally said tho he can't condense his albums because he wants to make sure all his demos are fed.
That's why him calling it album is a stretch. Bro should call it collection of music aka add 5 songs you like to your playlist. 😭😭😭😭

I don’t think CLB is a classic but it has some really high points whereas FATD feels pretty flat all the way through
