those collectivist societies were usually all related. Are there even large scale examples of collectivist societies before modern era?
China, Korea, Japan, Costa Rica, and Indonesia for example are all considered present day collectivist cultures
Most cultures and societies were/are collectivist. Individualism is a relatively new and Western mindset in the grand scheme of human history

I said before modern era lol.
This me attitude s*** is affecting everything from the workplace to school to f***ing sports and video games bro and it’s f***ing sad to watch. Sports not even about team succes no more it’s about individual players putting up numbers. Niggas be crying playing TEAM death match or capture the flag or some s*** and get mad when they get deranked cause they felt like they “carried” the team and still lost. This individual s*** is disgusting and been getting worse how the f*** we change it
You're not wrong bro.
People already Boujee af on the street pretending not to make eye contact or greet ppl. S***, at my own job, people I see everyday for half of the literal day; most those mfers act brand new when you greet them or say something to them. N its not even on some let's chat and become friends s*** I'm talking just a friendly hi or wassup.
Like damn, I don't wanna talk to most of you either, but I at least have the compassion to acknowledge y'all out of courteousy every now and then...
Seems like everyone is starting to think they're too cool or important to be friendly and open with just anyone. Everyone's just shut in and only interacting with those they deem 'worthy'
Video games is the same s*** too You play an open world multiplayer game and people kill you on sight with no warning just to take your starter gear or something.
I notice on the road too, people driving like their insurance is a charity to them. Flooring it going like 30 over just to cut you off to get into a McDonald's...
Or worse, when they floor it to get in front of you and then proceed to drive slow or slam on their brakes cause they're about to hit someone or miss their turn
People will literally do the riskiest s*** you can do in a car just to be the first ones through an intersection or turn. Or if they weren't paying attention and are on the opposite turning lane, instead of rerouting and circling back, they pull some risky ass s***, damn near hit multiple cars, just to make it to the right turn lane from the left turn lane.
Greed and stupidity is not a good mix at all.
If people focus on individualism in a righteous, positive manner, it creates a domino effect of a more positive society though. And stop trying to change the code of the world. Nature is competitive bruh and we are animals too, it’s in the codes bro.
@ the vaccine guy
I really think you should research and educate yourself on Native american culture and how before colonizers destroyed their lives they actually were all about collectivism and giving back to their entire community every month while keeping “competition” with other activities. We could have a much better society if colonizers collaborated along with native culture
thread full of people talking about how stupid and selfish other people are
conclusion: we need to cooperate with those stupid and selfish other people we hate
It’s hilarious that this title was inspired by you being mad about people not working together when playing team deathmatch lmaooo
ktt2 be like, we need a more equitable society, i learned this from playing multiplayer video games, and making zero efforts with my local community, who are all selfish and stupid unlike me
I said before modern era lol.
That's my point, they've been that way for a long time, before the modern era. Did you even read my post?

Media got a stranglehold on everyone's emotions tbh
Just gets it's hooks in thru a different medium for different people
Becoming aware of how your emotions get played like a fiddle is a huge step
It's just the first step as well the layers never seem to end
I think it's why unplugging from human made environments can be so beneficial to us
Just a walk in the park/forest and you do better on a cognitive test than when walk in the city
Slow intelligence hugely undervalued and is tangential to the individuality op is pressed about

You didnt give any examples of large scale collectivist societies pre modern era haha.
Can you link a larger scale example of a collectivist society pre modern era?

I looked up modern Japan and Korea I didn't know those were considered collectivist. But I don't know if its truly a factor or as big of a factor but 98% of the population is Japanese.

The posts responding to me wernt pre modern era examples unless you are saying those countries have always been like that

That is exactly what I've been saying. That those countries have been like that for a very, very long time (I'm not going to say always because I don't know their full history), long before the information age/'modern era'.
My point is you would be hard pressed to find individualistic societies before the industrial - information age. Individualism is relatively novel in the grand scheme of human history and became as widespread as it has with the growth of Western capitalism.

I corrected my first post in another post. I should’ve stated it’s a natural part of life that people are trying to get rid of, and it’s a good thing too
you’re right, we should adopt a more social structure for society
instead of focusing on the creation of capital for the individual through competition, we should focus on the creation of social well-being for the community through cooperation
i wonder what those ideologies are called
Socialism doesn’t work. It’s been tried several times
Socialism doesn’t work. It’s been tried several times
i don't know man i was in the military and my healthcare was working pretty well

Stopgap social policy that occurs once every generation is the only reason this country hasn’t totally collapsed into the ground
High tax rates and novel social programs propelled america into economic prosperity in the 1950’s.
Emergency programs like unemployment bonuses and rent moratorium are the only reason our country didn’t implode on itself during COVID, and once those policies end in September, it WILL implode
Whether you like it or not, socialist ideals and aligned policies are what keep countries together in comparison to capitalist policy
