Stopgap social policy that occurs once every generation is the only reason this country hasn’t totally collapsed into the ground

High tax rates and novel social programs propelled america into economic prosperity in the 1950’s.

Emergency programs like unemployment bonuses and rent moratorium are the only reason our country didn’t implode on itself during COVID, and once those policies end in September, it WILL implode

Whether you like it or not, socialist ideals and aligned policies are what keep countries together in comparison to capitalist policy

Socialists ideas sprinkled in can definitely work. Full on socialism is what I’m talking about

Socialist ideas sprinkled in haven’t solved a single problem we have in the US. They only prevent inevitable problems

You’d expect people to be more than a little disillusioned by capitalism in the face of climate change

I really think you should research and educate yourself on Native american culture and how before colonizers destroyed their lives they actually were all about collectivism and giving back to their entire community every month while keeping “competition” with other activities. We could have a much better society if colonizers collaborated along with native culture

yes also while taking over other territories and war amongst the diff tribes...how can you try and make a point for collectivism while the very people you reference fought amongst each other?

the only way for it to change is for everything to fall apart. we need forced sacrifice (war, natural disaster, etc) and then when we rebuild the cycle will start again

You’d think a global pandemic would do the trick

honestly it would've done it but most first world governments babied their citizens through this entire process lol

we missed the chance but im sure another event will come

I don’t really think what OP is talking abt maps onto the economic system of a society, or at least, these are two distinct (if possibly overlapping) problems

Anerica from its foundation has been “individualist” in that capitalistic way — yeoman farmers and all that — yet people had much deeper, or at least less openly antagonistic, social bonds than they seem to today
