I think NWA wrote the book on that man. We already know. That’s what Wayne was talking about in the tweet with fat joe.

I’m glad to see action being taken, burning down that police precinct is a good start when the state turns on its citizens

Don't use Wayne in this cause that nigga do nothing but talk down on people who protest/riot and says he doesn't see race.

The dude is a lost cause. He got his money and separated himself from the rest of us.

But you know what it is...
    but muh track titles!
    but muh album artwork!

Like just listen to the music and shut tf up. Yeah the presentation is important when it comes to an album, but you know what makes an album an album? The actual f***in music. How has this been forgotten

Tbh thank you because I only listened to it once and i was put off by the presentation but seeing your posts on the album has made me want to check it out again and give it the attention it deserves lol

Glad that a mainstream artist made this song. Speaking out against the bullshit going on is something that should never fizzle out in hiphop, and I hope another star comes along soon to drop a track like this too

Times like this really show you who’s for the culture and who’s just in it cause it’s cool.

Regardless of what you think about the song, the message in itself is powerful.

Part of hip hop has always been addressing political issues. If you don’t understand that then you don’t need to speak on black culture. Period.

Pretty much you can tell who’s white

I’m not saying that. I just think that it’s a very safe topic, released at a time when white guilt is at an all time high and police brutality/race relations are probably the second or third most pressing domestic issue in the country.

I also don’t think it was masterful enough to be put against the likes of Straight outta Compton or amerikkkas most wanted.

It didn’t move the needle for me

this is the perfect time for music like this. you have to realize that the political hip-hop element that has culminated over decades has manifested itself into the people who push for change now.

no one's comparing it to Straight Outta Compton or any of Ice Cube's songs, because music isn't black and white like that. the message that it contains will always be relevant, and personally, Gambino's expression of it was pretty masterful.

keeping the pressure up and creating discussions through songs like This Is America is what stops movements from fizzling out. sure, you might not personally think it's a good song, but you can at least appreciate what it's trying to convey, and the impact it had when it came out.

You know what, you make a good point. While myself and others may already be aware, it can’t hurt to continue speaking the message, worse case scenario you’ve already heard it, best case scenario it starts to sink in

That’s one of my biggest problems with modern rap.

Anytime an artist doesn’t make a generic trap/ turn up song, they’re “pandering” or “fake woke”.

Idk if u talking bout this song but i just wanna say this vid/song is so far from pretentious and fake woke. The concept and lyrics are easy to get on a surface level and he aint saying anything new nor is he acting like he is.

The way they encapsulated almost every societal issue the way they did is wild. executed perfectly
