I'm back after a 4 day hiatus & I'm here to surprise the hell out of you.
FIRST THINGS FIRST LINKS as ALWAYS:
DL LINK:
also a stream for 2 other aliases: Spac Hand Luke & Amen Andrew:
STREAMING LINKS (also samples) :
(my link which includes the deluxe version reissue and the original version of Plug lp tracks)
For you it all starts with a lp cover. This is his granddad, in the days of being a magician you had to have a gimmick. IN this case, he disguised himself as Asian. He fooled them. Look at the magic rings, that must have put them in awe. This is an Atlanta episode waiting to be written.
Here's the story, one of Cornwall's genius mastermind in production decided he was going to try drum n bass/breakbeat/jungle hybrid with off the wall sampling of a labyrinth of selections after being inspired listening to Photek. By this time he was already amazing everyone with his productions. He didn't have to do DRUM N BASS! He was already killing it as a beat master of hip hop/down tempo trip hop instrumental wizard. A challenging task if you never made a record like this at this tempo. But Luke is a crafty mf. And he Thanos'd the s*** with all the infinity stones.
The lp starts out with a dissonant horn line & then distorting into the deep & a flute ghostly wail and takes you into a world that is so intricate and insane in presentation. OMG wait until you hear how he opens this record. How he drops the drums in
There are so many samples from classical, library music, films,tv, children's records, demonstration, sound efx records, funk, hip hop, r&b, soul, gospel, jazz & beyond. He makes the impossible- possible with his weaving of sonic alchemy. Of these shuffling drums coming at you every minute
So he comes up with this name 'PLUG' (No Benny Butcher relation) sets up his sampler & pulls out his record collection and proceeds to create this work of recordings.
This alias only has 1 album and a few ep's and you can't get them on Spotify or Apple. This is definitely well worth mentioning this week before we close it out
There is way too many samples to clear and never get cleared. It's just too much for one label to handle. This is going to be some of your favorite music you heard this week. Fam, I do believe this lp was waiting for you. You were meant to discover it TODAY.
Here's a direct quote from him
"Recently on a few tracks, I thought about what it might sound like in a club, but usually I'm making it to amuse myself, basically. It's that bad thing that most people think dance music is just for clubs, but that's crap, really. You don't hang out in a club all day." So what's it for then? "Listening! That's the most important thing. Background, foreground, or whatever. Just for putting on in a home environment or office or anything. I never usually think about what it's going to sound like in a club, I'm just doing it in headphones and it's what sounds good to me." And naturally, the idea Luke Vibert listening environment is a comfortable armchair in his living room rather than the sweatbox ambience of the capital's night life. "Yes, but I always have done. I don't go out much. I mainly listen to old stuff anyway, so that club thing becomes a bit obsolete. Old weird electronic stuff, funk, stuff designed to be played at home. And that's the music I tend to sample, so it tneds to sound a bit more like that: cheesy and worn. Also I think I cram too much detail in to make them club tunes, it can sound a bit like a wall of noise when you hear them out. I mean, I like that about them, but quite a few people don't!" -
Thursday drop
He basically played sonic version of inception with Drum N Bass.
How crazy is this s***? Someone made a playlist for the title of this album even though they couldn't stream it!
open.spotify.com/playlist/4oxymmBRm1ton2Yxq0zECj
Damn shame no American rapper ever decided to ring him up to do a project
Over 150 minutes including 1 track that was omitted because of Sample issues and 2 rearranged remixes and 2 other from the ep's that were removed for the reissue.
PLUS as a bonus on the DL link his other alias for acid drum n bass project called 'Amen Andrews' Volume 1 -5 and a single called News of the World. That's like +6 hours of this type of IDM.
Put Luke's name as one of the goat producers period
Madlib,Dilla,Prefuse73,Shadow,
I remember a quote saying something like "If God used a sampler it would sound like Luke Vibert"
There are so many How much did you bargain with Prince of Darkness to make this lp have so many wtf transitions & how he ties it all together.
Back at it again for the fam.

There is a lot to listen to with this drop. I made it intentional for the listener to get a healthy example of Drum N Bass Luke style.
This is Drum n Bass if it was made in Willy Wonka factory. That's a great way to describe it.
Only a mad hatter like Luke could've devised something like this.
suggested if you like

fam, the way he starts the record with the dissonant horn line and that vocal sample it’s like hypnosis. And then that bass that just fills up the room with that tension & the cymbal phasing 😳
more otw. thanks for everyone if you look in the folders of the downloads you will see the following
plug drum n bass (plus edited material that couldn’t make the cut due to sample violations )
amen andrews volume 1-5
spac hand luke vs amen andrews
amen andrews- news of the world
amen andrews (2020)
I’m saying there is a lot here that isn’t on commercial streaming platforms. Plus all the artwork is with the downloads
we will do another vibert release with another alias name that he used next week. there is a lot to go through.
feel free to share it 😎
fam, the way this one below builds with that synth bass sliding line & how he adds the percussion hits to the drums and just stops n starts i’m guessing this is a herbie rhodes sample. 😳
he’s like david blaine of sampling - if he just did this one track he would be heralded as a genius.
and then that bassline comes in with that vocal sample & that exotic percussion. the attack is like psy-op’s on your mind 😭
