How the f*** do you perceive a black man trying to cope with the recent loss of his father through music as pretentious?

Just say you don’t like it and go about your day

Do you make positive threads about great/underrated artist too, or do you only enjoy making negative threads? PS say what you want about his production or lack of range delivery wise, but no quotables and bad songwriting?

Yeah but that alone makes Earl a factor in rap.
"internet rap isnt a real thing"
Internet rap is THE THING. Most rappers have blown up because of the internet. aka SOUNDCLOUD Rappers like Juice WRLD, Lil Pump, Lil Nas X and Post Malone who all blew up on the internet and were/are heavily involved in the internet culture.

If he made more accessible music he’d easily be one of the best rappers out rn

Last week we did Lupe Fiasco. This week we will discuss Earl Sweatshirt.

Every week I will rotate between overrated and trash. I hope to have a serious discussion each week.

Earl Sweatshirt is trash for the following reasons:
    1. He has zero quotables
    2. His songwriting skills are mediocre
    3. His flow and delivery is monotonous as hell. He always comes off as if he's just talking with no energy rather than rapping.
    4. None of his albums are great and yet he's praised as some top tier rapper this decade. Never understood how anyone could claim dude has a classic verse. IDLSIDGO and Doris are decent at best with the former probably being his most personal and impressive project.
    5. For a rapper that's praised as some technical MC, he's really weak in comparison to his peers that dropped this decade.
    6. He isn't versatile at all. G Herbo did a song with him and flat out bodied him on it.

    Discuss please.

I would agree with this with the release of SRS. His stuff before that was good.
