u gotta launch a whole new app to post a thread?

for free yes cause reddit already charges for personal API usage to post threads

if you pay you can do it in apollo... thats why the app charges for it cause reddit already made it not free

It's the fact the official app and new website is s***, and the other apps are better (apparently reddit made their app buying out another app).

But the company is going to move forward for their new ipo on the stock market

Yeah but those seperate sites that proxing through them are making individual money off of their own ads that are seperate.

No duh Reddit or any other company wouldnt ket thay happen - not only are you making money off their core without giving a cut; you are also taking eyes and click away from the actual core site's ads. And it can also hurt their brand of their tunnel site is called something wild or has somethinf wild going on.

Paying for "server" use is normal for a lot of things including sites. It doesnt make them special.

Its dumb & entitled. At least they have the option to pay for it.

Overall I dont personally care tho nut its an ignorant fight to me. Its not their site - even if it is user driven.

It makes sense why actual Reddit wouldnt let it fly.

This is all goong off of the little information & understanding of the situation tho - if its bigger than thay then ok.

But overall as I know right now they (the mods/sites) are in the wrong.

I think the more reasonable compromise to talk with these developers and have them improve the app

But corporations don't care after a certain amount of income and investors.

Charging to use an api isn’t a bad idea, it’s the fact that Reddit made the specific charges for third party apps to be basically impossible for them to keep up with which is to push those apps out forcing users to use their s***ty app.

the crazy thing about apollo is that mf was charging people a membership to be able to create threads (you know a basic feature of the website) and you had to pay monthly to receive something as simple as push notifications. bro is just as greedy as the reddit ceo but he gets to hide behind a wholesome big chungus mask because he's just a smol millionaire indie dev. idgaf what other features were included in the membership, putting basic s*** like that behind a paywall is just gross and would never be seen as acceptable if reddit themselves did it.

Hold up how long has this been a thing? I been using third party on Android and we can post just fine through the app

    Yeah this dude instigating

Cause most of those third party apps are supplemented by ads. Posting is a paid api feature. And ads supplement that. Apollo is completely ad free
