Fam wasn’t Em doing damn near plat first week in his prime? Don’t think it’s anywhere near that now
every single year he drops an album its in the top 5 sales of rap that year - for 3 of his post comeback years he has been the top rap album of that year, with a couple reaching into 700k territory in the 2010s
Sales have fallen as a whole but em’s worse quality has absolutely not translated into sales
You ask most people who made the best music in the 50s they’re gonna say Elvis. And Elvis sold the most. You ask about the 60s they’ll say The Beatles. The Beatles sold the most. 70s, they’ll say Zeppelin and guess who sold the most. Ask em about the 80s and they’ll say Michael and you already know the rest.
In 30-40 years you ask a random person who made the best music in the 2010s and they’ll probably say Drake. That’s just the way it is
THANK YOU

White ppl will say that. Black ppl will never say this dummy s***.
I have never heard any black person say Elvis or the Beatles or any of that other C***music was the best lol.
Art is opinion based why would argue with someone on that? Some niggas just don’t like drake, why would I argue With them that the music is good when music is subjective? That’s like talking to a brick wall….
Being able to articulate opinions and discuss art in a deeper way than popularity is part of the struggle. Like, have you ever read a book

I’m perfectly capable of getting into that lol. But it’s pointless if YOU don’t like music. Even if I articulate it in the best way possible, it’s not gonna make YOU like it. I’m not gonna argue opinions that vary from person to person. I’m gonna argue facts and statistics

maybe if u ask casuals lol
shut up c**
Lmaoo this how you know you got em backed in a corner. If you don’t have a counter just say that
maybe if u ask casuals lol
Yes most people will be casuals about music from 30-40 years ago
maybe if u ask casuals lol
Ask white ppl lol. No black casual is telling you Elvis is better then Jimmy Hendrix

The meaning and value you give certain facts/statistics requires some form of subjectivity tho. You're not really saying much outside of popularity with data. If you want to say something more using data then opinions coming into it.
I'm not overly concerned about trying to make other people LIKE certain things, that's boring. I'd rather have a conversation about the art itself even if we largely disagree

You living vicariously through a man that doesn't know you exist.
So once again for you: shut up c**
The convo went from Kanye to MJ which is telling. The problem is, most people who are willing to s*** on Ye, will scoff at Drake vs MJ comparisons so it will become annoying for the people who were once singing drakes praises in media. They’ll push back on this MJ comp.
I have never heard any black person say Elvis or the Beatles or any of that other C***music was the best lol.
Black folks opinion on music isn’t the only one worth considering, what are you even saying?

Black ppls opinion on black music are the only thing I care about.
Why the f*** would I care if a white dude likes a Mos def album?
Or if a racist white dude from tge 60s liked Jimi Hendrix?,

when you say "Drake sold X units therefore he's good" is literally already taking it away from just 'facts and statistics'

Nah I got my own life pal. unlike you, I dont take my persona on here too seriously. You just suck at debating, that’s the point I was trying to get across since it seems you’re having trouble grasping that
I hear everybody bring this up when it comes to the biggest artist in the world, and it’s really only cause he’s #1.
Kendrick is probably number 2 or 3 when it comes to sales in hip hop but nobody brings that up with him.
Does the most sales mean that’s it’s the best music in the f***ing world, or the best music out right now? No, obvi not.
A lot of y’all buy the new iPhone when it drops, there can be an argument that Samsung produces better functioning phones, but the iPhone has the IT (especially in the US). There’s obviously some redeeming qualities that keep you coming back.
A company that produces a good product will have people lining up for that release every time, no questions asked
where does this even matter outside of internet forums or twitter music debates lol
if you're in the barbershop and niggas arguing about who the greatest and you bring up "well __ sold 200k more than __ first week" niggas will look at u weird as s*** lmao
best cuisine in the history of earth
This argument would only work if the most popular music was a small fraction of the cost of the "higher caliber" music... which it's not. Nearly all albums take the same amount of your money and time to listen to. Obviously McDonalds would not be popular if high-quality filet mignon was available on every street corner for $1.99

didnt read, hope things get better for u tho

greatest and best are two different things imo. If they ask me who’s the GREATEST? I’m absolutely bringing numbers into the equation. “Best” is a word that’s derived from opinion, and that’s when I would start to give my opinion
