Think it devalues the art form? Hope more movies include graphic content like S***and Violence without pushback? Or simply don’t give a f*** either way as long as the film is good?
let’s go watch a p***o and talk about it in depth. What worked, what didn’t? And if it devalues women and or the story at hand.
they nearly always detract from the actual plot
they nearly always detract from the actual plot
give an example cause I don't get how it would
95% of the time it does nothing to progress the plot or flesh out the characters… but sometimes, if done well, a case can be made for artistry
they nearly always detract from the actual plot
This isn't true
The "argument" that they're pointless or add nothing to the plot/film is puritanical nonsense. We've had decades of critical writings, including those of feminist writers and theorists, on the artistic and aesthetic merits of eroticism and intimacy in media.
Arbitrary female nudity in films (largely found in ones produced by Hollywood) may be pointless additions to provoke excitement in certain audience demographics, but this is not the case for s***scenes. Are there pointless ones? Of course. Are they all pointless, even on average? Of course not. Even s***scenes in more populist/commercial types of film, like generic romantic comedies, have purpose in the beats of narrative and character arcs. Are there ways to explore and develop deep character relations without s***scenes? Obviously. But that doesn't mean s***scenes are pointless.
I honestly don’t mind, it can be awkward when you watching with other people or whatever but wanting whoever made the film to compromise their vision just to make u comfortable is weird
Send me the list of the best ones so I can accurately make a opinion on it
that Halle Berry one
its a video game but ill never forget when the abby s***scene in last of us 2 genuinely had grown men upset for like weeks
Never watched the movie, so Idk how explicit the scene is or if they even show anything - but I'd say a s***scene in Terminator would actually add to the plot. Insecure season 1 also had a scene where Issa f***s that guy Daniel - how else are you gonna make the audience feel the effects of her betrayal to her longterm boyfriend if not with a s***scene? It's stupid to say s***scenes don't ever add anything, they obviously do
