I mean s***is a normal thing that humans do so a s***scene in a film or show is pretty normal. However there are times I feel like it's forced into a show or film, and you know that it was forced in there because it will feel awkward as you're watching it. Not the "Oh it's a s***scene" kinda awkward, but the "Oh...this doesn't really even look or feel right and feels horribly timed" kinda awkward.

Nothin normal about my s**
But after watching the sopranos in full with my dad, I think I’m unfazed by s***scenes now. They’re usually short enough to not care anyways.
Never enjoyed them. If I wanted to watch people have s***I’d watch p***. Never saw one that added anything to the film really but maybe I haven’t seen enough movies
The "argument" that they're pointless or add nothing to the plot/film is puritanical nonsense. We've had decades of critical writings, including those of feminist writers and theorists, on the artistic and aesthetic merits of eroticism and intimacy in media.
Arbitrary female nudity in films (largely found in ones produced by Hollywood) may be pointless additions to provoke excitement in certain audience demographics, but this is not the case for s***scenes. Are there pointless ones? Of course. Are they all pointless, even on average? Of course not. Even s***scenes in more populist/commercial types of film, like generic romantic comedies, have purpose in the beats of narrative and character arcs. Are there ways to explore and develop deep character relations without s***scenes? Obviously. But that doesn't mean s***scenes are pointless.
You’ve convinced me actually

well shot/lit/cut s***scenes impart a vastly different feeling than p***
Not always

I think a lot to the time it’s unnecessary or goes on too long. I don’t need a minute long scene to know what is happening.
‘The Blue is the Warmest Color’ joint was crazy. First time I seen that s***scene in that movie I couldn’t believe that was up.
s***scenes can are completely fine and can be actual important plot devices/points
that being lots of movies have unnecessary s***scenes
The best s***scene in movie history
Doesnt bother me lol. Adds another layer to a characters relationship, and the importance of it. “Oh, they f***ed 5 times and he still played her? Damn, that nigga is f***ed up”

Thats what i thought
This discourse is so lame. It’s on twitter all the time. Every week some dummy pops up like a weed and says “hot take, I think s***scenes are unnecessary”. Nothing is necessary in art, it’s just human expression. S***is apart of how we express ourselves. Of course the goons who exclusively watch Disney’s mega monopoly slop would be uncomfortable with anything remotely sensual. That being said Eternals will probably be bad and this and the natural lighting s*** seem like gimmicks to convince film buffs this is actually a “real movie”.
Think it devalues the art form? Hope more movies include graphic content like S***and Violence without pushback? Or simply don’t give a f*** either way as long as the film is good?

Make it graphic, make it overly sexual... as long as it's done well
