Still can't believe that a "Travis Scott (feat. Yung Lean & Dave Chapelle)" song is a real thing
I think Astroworld had better... idk... actually structured songs, I guess? It just felt more direct, more accessible. Also much better use of features. More emphasis on them, too. This had like the weird moments with Sampha, 21, Thug, etc etc that didn't really add too much to the record, imo. Honestly this didn't really have any standout features in the way that Astroworld did.
I agree with this. The songwriting on Astroworld is much more well structured, but that album was going for a pop rap audience appeal so it makes sense.
Utopiaās songs are much more scattershot and undefined in their presentation.
As far as the features go, I agree with that too, and I think the difference in approach to guest artists also ties back in to what both albums set out to accomplish.
Astroworldās features are cameos in a multiverse Marvel movie. They are there to surprise, excite, and bring in fans of those artists as well, while creating super memorable blockbuster moments on almost every song.
On Utopia, Travis is the main focus, and the features are there moreso to add certain colors or textures to songs that wouldnāt be achievable by Travis himself, without ever fully stealing the show from him.
Neither approach is better or worse in my opinion, just depends on what youāre looking for in a Travis Scott album.

I hate his music but he kind of did his thing on it ngl
I like the lil hook he does but I thought it was Travis
The "travis is rapping about nothing" mfs are so corny. Like Carti, Uzi, Thug, future etc are rapping about something substantial ?
Because meltdown wasn't done by the time that they needed to have the masters in for the pressings
Still can't believe that a "Travis Scott (feat. Yung Lean & Dave Chapelle)" song is a real thing
