Just found out about this existing. Why are there so many white people? Isn’t China and Chinese culture pretty important to the narrative here?
maybe the white people are aliens

they white-washed a lot of asoiaf in their adaptation so they might be doing this again
These books are highly regarded, and these guys seem to be able to adapt source material well. I am excited for this
first 5 episodes on youtube right now
Lol actually was considering watching this yesterday. Saw it's getting love in China and i could use the language practice with the subtitles
I just hope Netflix doesn't cancel this because I need an adaptation of the last 100 pages of Dark Forest

Really enjoy the books but realistically most of the cast could be replaced by generic scientist dudes and the plot would be exactly the same, only really the girl at the beginning and arguably the policeman need to be Chinese at least for the first book (and from the casting it appears those were kept)
I’m about 3/4ths through with the first book, and I have to disagree with this summation. Maybe 2-4 characters I think should be kept Chinese, everything else can be freely reimagined.
As far as I am in the book atm, I do think this show would’ve been better served if it was adapted in animation form rather than live action. Some of the scenarios, and concepts being described in the book, I feel like just won’t translate well, unless they’re on some James Cameron level of technology and execution.

Is the book worth reading?
