funny bc one of the hosts was a confirmed fratbro in uni... podcast is grating at time’s due to the hosts’ cringiness but the guests make up for it with solid takes and good insight into the current state of menswear ... I’ll never understand their obsession with certain brands tho 👀 our legacy been washed for a couple seasons and they still rep it so hard... Bode is another brand that they overhype imo. Jimmy is miles better and more tolerable than Larry who’s rampant materialism is off putting at times if not slightly depressing since he’s a grown man still obsessing about likes on the internet 🤷🏻♂️ I haven’t really listened to much since the podcast became patreon driven... seemed to lose the lustre but I’m open to changing my mind
@proper if u have any arguments in favor for it I’m here and listening 🤝

ya the guests are nice but i also feel like the hosts are really weak interviewers.
Like they’ll cut off the guest to make an unfunny joke which then just derails the whole conversation and the point the guest was trying to talk about
interesting to hear your take on it tho, thank u

a lot of the appeal (allegedly) of this podcast is its dysfunctional nature... jimmy offers "boilerplate" interview questions which get the convos started but they are largely there to assist in the host's riffing abilities throughout the duration of the ep. the podcast is pitched as a fashion podcast, but it sometimes seems more like a fashion adjacent podcast when it doubles down on its comedic nature... I don't mind the comedy of the two hosts so I enjoy the eps, but anyone who's listening to the podcast for quality interviews with fashion industry alumni might be disappointed. that being said, Jimmy is often the more thoughtful of the two hosts with his questions and responses to interviewees, Larry is purely there to riff and doesn't really interact too heavily with the interview style/format of the podcast... I stan Jimmy tbh, he's a good writer and he's a large part of the reason i listened to so much of this podcast in the first place.
the adam freidland podcast episode of the Failing Upwards series is one of my faves b/c i'm a c***town listener already and it's a fun crossover between two established comedy podcasts. also any of the Chris Black interview episodes are great for an even amount of uninterrupted critical insight into industry and styling... as well as including a guest that can go toe-to-toe with the interviewers' off kilter line of questioning.
90% of the podcast is literally just jokes and friends having a good time. It’s not that srs tbh if you don’t like it don’t listen?
it is pretty white/bro humor tho.
also I’m way older than most ppl in this section (smh lol) so literally all their references hit cause I grew up on the same s***. It’s just very relatable. I’m not rich tho

Spot on lmao
Not worth tuning in unless the guest is interesting tbh

who is this in response to? I enjoy the humor/content of the interviews in the podcast so that's why I listen... larry's materialism is offputting to me at times, is all. I've stopped listening due to lockdown and not having as much time where I feel the need to listen to podcasts as well... maybe i'll try out the patreon if its worth it, do you think it is? genuine question :)
@ relating to the jokes bc you're older... that's cool! how long have you been into this stuff? I'm genuinely curious bc you have a lot of knowledge pertaining to the game/street fashion

I think one the dudes who started our legacy is a huge fan so that’s prolly why they always shouting them out and tbh the guests name drop bode way more than the hosts.
Tbh I think they both hilarious. It’s like if desus and mero were white. One is hella loud and obnoxious type humor and the other is a lil more witty w the references n s***.

Yes! I’ve listened to the ep with the Our Legacy designer, he seems like a sweet guy and I’m glad they have a good relationship... you’re right that their biased towards him because they share a friendship, I can’t knock it I suppose.
Bode comes up equal parts by them I’ve always felt, but it is THE popular New York brand that all the media ppl they bring on to the poscast love to promote

that was in response to anyone who doesn’t f*** w the pod because of the jokes/cutting off the guests and s*** like that no one specific.
For me the patreon is worth it cause I need the content + s***s only 5$ a month so it doesn’t even really feel like I’m spending money lol.
I actually took a huge break from the pod as well once lockdown started cause I only listened to the pod during commutes but I’ve been going on runs/jogs everyday this month and finally caught up.
also what I meant by relatable is like whenever they talk about old skate s*** (chadillac muskalade kills me everytime), old emo/rock band/rap references, soap shoes, just like refs to s*** from growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s
Also love all the pusha t lyric references cause I’m obvs a huge fan
and I been following streetwear and some high fashion since like 2004? But like Larry said even before then style/fashion was something that mattered a lot to me even if I wasn’t consciously thinking about fashion or whatever cause every phase I’ve gone through since middle school has had its own “uniform”.Like If you want to skateboard there’s a certain way to dress and certain brands you have to wear.. like my earliest memories of fashion was like circling all the s*** that I wanted in east bay and ccs catalogs that would come in the mail lol.
I listen to the pod more for the comedy than the fashion talk tho.
A lot of the brands they f*** w are either out of my budget or not really my style.
Fashion world/ppl always be taking themselves way too seriously so it’s nice to see ppl poking fun at this s*** and themselves
Y’all f*** w the dropcast?
I feel like it’s a toned down version of failing upwards/throwing fits
tbh I prefer the dropcast guest selection way more but the hosts are way more cringe to me than Larry and jimmy
I started to listen to the podcast because ezra koenig was a guest and I’m a fan of his. I f*** with the guest they have they’re always low key people you’ve never heard of that have their own unique style. I don’t f*** with the host, tbh I just don’t f*** with any of the mid 2010’s class of complex staff became “influencers”. They have this pretentious elitist vibe to them

Strong RT ab the complex staff “influencers” being pretentious... Jake Woolf gotta be the worst example of em

tbh don’t even know what Jake wolf is famous for but I do know everyone in the tf discord hates him
Some dude in the discord/subreddit? actually found a bunch of his racist/homophobic/problematic tweets last weekend and sent them to his employer in hopes of getting him fired. That s*** high key doing too much tho

Damn that’s f***ed up. No one should lose their job bc of unearthed tweets, ppl should be capable of growth imo, I know it’s a controversial subject... Jake Woolf is just a mid writer imo, I’ve read a few of his articles and they’re nothing worthy of note. That, how he carries himself in interviews along with his abysmal hot takes are what annoy me about him 🤷🏻♂️
Haven’t listened to the pod in a while but Jake did a few ig lives with dude from Happy Endings that I really enjoyed.
At this point tho I just miss four-pins
