See a lot niggas agreeing he’s up there with Wayne but not Ye and Jay. The delusion.

Wayne’s influence on hip hop alone puts him a tier above TIP. Not counting the fact he’s a slightly better rapper

Nah, we're just saying in terms of relevance and quality product, Wayne and Tip are in similar places in their rap careers at this point

Wayne did hella d****. What's Tips excuse aside from being rich and uninspired?

  • Jul 10, 2020

TI had a run as the best rapper alive and he had a dope movie too

those are pretty much the prerequisites to be in that upper echelon

    i'm not mad at it

    salute to him

I don’t think they’re the same in relevancy either. Wayne not as big no more but I don’t see T.I. doing 140k first week in 2020 like Funeral

Wayne's got a strong fanbase which is why a weed plate like Funeral does that kind of sales without a single.

multiple prison stints in his mainstream crossover era and his subject matter revolving around a lifestyle he couldn't realistically still engage in?

    FOH

24s/Motivation/ASAP absolutely get that same less than 60 second spin thru that all the 00's records get now lol

    but im in the south

He got knocked a decade ago.

If hes as nice as he feels he is he would've figured it out by now

Wayne still does big numbers because of the work he put into the game.

Musically, Tip just didnt do enough.

Like I said, hes still fairly young. He can make a 4:44 type album and solidify his legacy.

I dont think he will tho.

  • Jul 10, 2020

this whats happen if you really don't have a fanbase, so you have to declare it yourself your albums are as good as other appreciated albums

Exactly. Hes a regional act at this point.

They aren't playing any T.I. pass the mason/dixon line.

Might hear some Wayne or Kanye tho.

Maybe even some 50 or Nelly

By the time he comes home it's future/keef/thug era and he's a street rapper on probation approaching his 40's

he bounced back nicely by taking his career in the more political realm lyrically and has contributed everything he needs to contribute to be considered a legend

again i hate that he started this convo bc this is basically a convo about how many white people in their 30's and 40's know you. he could drop ten 4:44 style albums that are classics and his place in this convo wouldn't change bc of s*** like us validating wayne as a rockstar when teenage white girls liked him, songs like runaway and empire state being Hov and Ye's biggest records

he didn't make enough crossover records that white people can recognize in ten seconds or less and the culture will come up with a million reasons other than that as to why he's not on same level of ye, wayne and hov instead of just saying that lol. also there are other layers to the other ones like beyonce and business for Hov, the skating and d*** element for Wayne, fashion and the drama with Kanye. TIP just TIP

    Tip is 39.
He went to jail in 09 came home 2010.
It wasnt like time passed him by. He came out still poised to be on top of the game. He just made s***ty albums.

And I dont buy the white people angle. This has nothing to do with how much white folks recognize TI. It's about looking at his resume and impact and honestly evaluating it.

TI is TI and has made millions off of just that. Hes always in the media for some s*** he just cant parlay that into making good albums.

I like Tip but facts is facts. Hes a self proclaimed King. Always has been.

Maybe About The Money, maybe Bring Em Out. But Wayne is gonna get a whole set. 50 too.

Tips biggest songs are barely f***ing with Nelly or Ludas catalog, how could he f*** with the GOATs?

  • Jul 10, 2020

Imma need to hymen-check that statement

  • Jeezy's rise and Tip's need for mainstream validation is what really sank his career.

One you go full pop, you almost never recover musically. You leave your core fanbase for the mainstream, you cant come back.

He's right but he's not gon get it because he doesn't have that layer of mainstream 30something white acceptance to their music the way Ye has songs like Stronger/Gold Digger, Wayne has Lollipop/A Milli/etc. era and beyond and Jay-Z being the rapper even your grandma knows for the past 15-20 years.

And subconsciously that's why everyone in here is clowning him

Every other category (cultural/chart hits, 10-20+ years in the game, deep back catalog quality wise, etc.) he hits.

    This a lie

    Indicud

how does he have the best discog then

By being diverse, constantly changing his sound with each album. I don’t think people really understand how difficult that is. Many artists try and they fail every time.

That's literally the only difference between him and the other 3

He doesn't have that element of large white acceptance that the others achieved in that 07-09 era

All artists tend to release weak albums after their prime. Not sure why you’d focus on just the mediocre ones when he has a bunch of amazing albums prior.

His good to bad album ratio is like 4 to 6 in favor of the bad
