  • Jul 10, 2020

He's right but he's not gon get it because he doesn't have that layer of mainstream 30something white acceptance to their music the way Ye has songs like Stronger/Gold Digger, Wayne has Lollipop/A Milli/etc. era and beyond and Jay-Z being the rapper even your grandma knows for the past 15-20 years.

And subconsciously that's why everyone in here is clowning him

Every other category (cultural/chart hits, 10-20+ years in the game, deep back catalog quality wise, etc.) he hits.

TI has loads of pop crossover hits?

you really can't compare Kanyes discography to no one in hip hop really

Jay and Wayne are also obviously above TI

T.I. has hits alright, and he’s been having hits for a long time. Like till this day he releases something that goes up every now and then.

But I feel like he don’t have the artistry of Jay/Ye

And Wayne is literally top 2 and he not 2

    and wayne hasnt?

  • Tip still on ecstacy apparently.

There are at least 5 Atlanta acts better then Tip

More then 10 Southern acts better then Tip.

The guys universally accepted as NY Goats are all better then Tip.

    Tiny, getcha nigga!

Sounds a little insecure though ngl

That's what I'm saying, outside of Paper Trail he doesn't, but what is a pop crossover hit?

A song that a lot of white people older than a certain age liked?

I'm not gonna just say Lollipop, Stronger, Empire State of Mind were more important records than a What You Know or ASAP just because more white people liked them, Maybe for other reasons but I don't like how this really comes down to him not having enough songs with Justin Timberlake or a pop Timbaland beat in that 07-09 era where Hov, Wayne and Kanye got most of their songs that are beloved by "mainstream pop audiences" lol

Does TI even have an album as good as American Gansgter???

    Nope

None of his albums are classics.

TRAP Muzik would be the closest one but it didnt spawn the same kind of hits as other albums accepted as classics

jay would have had he not dropped 4:44 tbh

jus cuz BP3 to MCHG was a pretty bad back to back

but yeah I don't think anyone has fallen off as badly as wayne in hip hop history, musically and personally

man went from C2/Da Drought 2/ real street s*** dominating the mainstream to an all lives matter joke of an artist dropping trash for a straight decade

TI is jus mediocre now. He still has some cool moments here and there tho tbh.

    Trap Muzik
    Urban Legend
    King
    Paper Trail

Arguably I'm Serious although I moreso personally like it and recognize it didn't really do much for him

And ironically the same things that made Ye and Wayne fall off quality wise are the same things that they're gonna s*** on TI for when really, if you're a TI fan and like what he does, he's stayed pretty consistent for 20 years which is something that can't be said for CD era Ye or 05-08 Mixtape Weezy

In the tier of rap that we're discussing you're either gonna get to a certain level and mellow out as a legend and stay in your lane and be Ross, Pusha, TI or you're gonna extend yourself to other audiences and potentially lose your way like Wayne and Kanye did and Drake may be in the midst of doing since 2016.

I actually like T.I. vs TIP more then King and Paper Trail but thats just my opinion.

But what makes king a classic?

Cause he dropped it when ATL dropped so the buzz was really high?
    What are the classic songs?

I like Top Back and What You Know but nothing else really stood the test of time

He’s not wrong, His Discography is Strong as f***!

Never been apart of the Jay, Kanye & Wayne circle jerk so I don’t really give a f*** about defending in this opinion.

People Sleep in Tip’s mixtapes too!

What TI tapes do you recommend? Only listened to the albums tbh

His catalogue up there with Wayne’s but not jay or kanye. His legacy is nowhere near any of them

to be fair Kanye stayed great for about 12-13 years (15 if you wanna count his production pre CD). Even now, as bad as JIK and Ye are, he still has some dope moments like production on Daytona, KSG, songs like Ghost Town or Wash us in the blood. I would say Kanye is far better right now than Wayne is and he still making better music than TI does at points.

TI just boring now but hes definitely not offensively bad by any means.
