I vividly remember the world before everything went online but also grew up just as youtube and everything started wild being there at the beginning. Being a zillenial is wild perspective
Dude yeah, same here. I'm not that much older than you too. We literally saw the world change, we were like the last ones to grow up without constantly being connected.
I think that's what makes us stand out the most. We grew up WITH technology by our side, not IN it which clearly the newer generation of kids are.
I mean we were both in school during the same era essentially so trends and whatever crossed over
But what I'm saying is that TikTok is a huge root of problems in the youth. Seriously. MAYBE it's just because it's the most popular social media so that's why I blame it. But fr, you're gonna sit here and say that kids were "always this putrid"? Nah bro. Fr.
The introduction of all this weird trend s***/stereotyping and also because of the political turmoil we're in has ruined an entire demographic of teenagers essentially (well MOST of them at least)
They are more depressed than ever, have cynical views of the world, more judgemental, rude, etc.
I talked about this in a thread earlier today where some user in the music section named Ryuka said "It's okay to laugh at dead people". While defending that song that sampled "A Thousand Miles".
If that's what represents most of teenagers nowadays, then they are more toxic than ever.
to be fair i don't think it represents all teenagers nowadays really do think majority of people are chilling watching the tiktoks moreso than making them like statistically its probably a low percentage of teenagers actively making the toxic content most people are probably just consuming and moving on
ktt users calling another platform an echo chamber
The only true echo chamber on ktt2 is the drake sxn
Edit - and even then it was much much worse on ktt1
?

Its gonna be wild in a few decades we'll be the last group of people to remember the pre information age
Snowman going out sad
isn't this every social media
Yeah, facts but the thread title is
"tiktok is the greatest app..." when they on the same bs if not more
how is that tik Tok fault people are more depressed and cynical cause they lived through two once in a life time recessions, and an uncertain future which is just reflected through Tik Tok (social media in general).
That's literally not the people I'm talking about
Someone born in 2004 did NOT "live" through a recession, they were a baby when it happened. They also aren't even an adult during 2020 or working so HOW is that relevant to being cynical?
They were raised by s***ty parents who had that same s***ty idea of "the world sucks you only should care about yourself". This is a common trait of those who birthed them. They were taught to not be optimistic or work as a group to accomplish goals. It's all narcissism at the end of the day.
idk bro none of that s*** is remotely surprising to me
But what I do often see for young people on TikTok is accountability
If someone says something racist or homophobic they get called it for it incredibly quickly
Idk about you but I know for certain a lot of that s*** tended to just slide at high school 5 years ago as f***ed up as that is
Well I gotta give them props for the accountability though, that's whats up.
The post I'm talking about is in here

Read the comment trail of pages where that Ryuka guy started s***.

Content CONSOOMERS

Cuz psychologists, psychiatrists and sociologists have studied the correlation between mental health and social media
Ie : Body dysmorphia isn't rising cuz of capitalism directly
Its gonna be wild in a few decades we'll be the last group of people to remember the pre information age
Us born in the 90's were extremely lucky to be honest.
I take that for granted everyday bro

I think people born in the 90s feel like if we end up good parents our kids will end up being the goat generation just cause of our multi dimensional perspective

They don’t know s*** about going outside. They stay indoors all day. That’s why theyre more socially awkward.
Even some s*** like playing a game of yugioh they do it on the computer or on their phone/tablet without the face to face conversation

but you could easily argue that most of the issues with social media and the reason those issues don’t get fixed is because of where capitalism has progressed to
If a society was constructed solely around what innovations benefit humans social media at least in the form of engagement driven content would not exist
Its gonna be wild in a few decades we'll be the last group of people to remember the pre information age
yeah its crazy, we have a unique perspective being right on the cusp of the 2 eras
I think people born in the 90s feel like if we end up good parents our kids will end up being the goat generation just cause of our multi dimensional perspective
It's gonna be awesome. We're truly the last of a kind. I was reading some statistics that smartphones became normal in 2013/2014 when most of us were in our teens/20's so we were already raised in a world without them. It shaped us to be different people.

This!
Why did these people raise kids to basically just be "alone" in the digital world?
It's simply disgusting the lack of care for their children.
