24K Magic is a flawless MJ impersonation album. Absolute zero interesting ideas on its own though.
Silk Sonic is the best thing he's done and I'd say its a 7/10 at best
If you think it's like MJ, then idk if you really listened to the album
Anyway, we can use another album as example. Unorthodox Jukebox. An album that goes from rock to pop to disco to doo-wop to reggae and more in 35 minutes
I don't think you listened to all albums from all those artists to make that claim

maybe not fully MJ but definitely an impersonation of that era. Hell there's even Boys II Men influence for sure. But point is none of the songs ever sounded distinct in anyway. They all feel like cover songs. Unorthodox Jukebox was the same way despite its genre jumps because every genre he tackled, it felt like he was trying to make the lowest common denominator song for that genre.

The point of 24k Magic was to be 90s R&B.
I don't know how would someone think songs like Locked Out of Heaven or When I Was Your Man are "lowest common denominator". LOOH just might be the best hit of the whole decade. A modern reggae rock song that topped the charts when 80% of the songs on the radio either had a Pitbull verse or were trying EDM. And it's still so fresh today which is why it's been constantly popular all these years.

calling LOOH the best hit of the whole decade is a WILD statement especially when that decade had Get Lucky, All of the Lights, Diamonds, Alright, Adorn, Starboy, Blinding Lights (honestly a good amount of Weeknd songs s*** on anything Bruno has done), Sicko Mode, We Found Love and so many other monster hits that had plenty of originality to them.
This isn't to say that Locked out of Heaven is a bad track but your reasoning for its greatness is that it was released during a terrible trendy time in pop music and it wasn't as bad as those. Maybe so, but its far from as interesting as so many other pop songs of that decade.
Also When I was your Man is 100% a lowest common denominator song. It is literally doing the more obvious and derivative version of the piano ballad. Listen to Sampha's "No One Knows me Like the Piano" and then listen to When I was your Man and you will realize what the difference is between a distinct piano ballad and a by the numbers one.
