You sound hurt that pro athletes make so much more than you ever will and are far more respected and famous than you will ever be.

So now you’ve moved the point to be that the work I do on excel is a lot more advanced than the work I did on excel as a kid

Okay, tell a high school kid who plays football to play in the NFL. Hell, let’s put you in the NFL. I bet you’ll be in a hospital in minutes. What they’re playing is not a childrens game.

I literally asked you what you do on Excel. Never made a judgment on it. It could be useless garbage too. I do useless garbage for a living. It's annoying and mind numbing. I also have to do it to get health insurance and eat food.

A children's game played by adults is still a children's game. American Football is also, objectively, the stupidest professional sport on the planet

The one great thing about capitalism is that people can turn anything they’re passionate about into a job. Theres a guy on YouTube who makes millions throwing toilet plungers at store signs.

I’d rather people be able to do that than be forced into “essential jobs” that they’d hate doing like being a teacher or doctor. The biggest problem with socialism also is that it treats these jobs as equals when the preparation and training is so widely different

i prefer to watch other people play them while they earn $1million per week and live vicariously through them

I'm not having a socialism vs capitalism "debate", these "debates" never go anywhere

If you are defending football players making half a billion dollars throwing balls on a field, do your thing. This was an open forum and I threw my hat in the ring. You will never convince me to have different views on pro sports and they objectively provide no material value to the human race. If that doesn't bother you, cool, enjoy, truly. I'm not changing my mind and I didn't call you out.

    Just avoid the debate lol.

Ask a small business owner how they feel about working 90 hour weeks providing services to their local community making a tenth of some roided-out idiot savant because he can throw a ball far how they feel about their "hard work"

  • Jul 10, 2023

This guy said that people shouldn't be forced to do essential jobs(ie force the poor to do it). And that's it's good that you tubers don't have to help. The fact that this was said itt without a hint of irony is really telling. America is doomed.

I am just howling that he said we can do anything we want instead of being forced into “essential jobs” when pretty much the entire population works those type of jobs

Everyone in society should be forced to do essential jobs. Very very quickly we would find out which jobs are really essential if the rich are forced to do them too. Suddenly automation would skyrocket.

And many of these jobs make people happy too

Most teachers I know, including a huge portion of my family, would never give the profession up for anything. It provides an invaluable resource to our species, which is educating our children. Garbage men in one day provide more material value to society than pro-athletes do for their entire athletic careers.

Some athletes, like Muhammad Ali, go above and beyond in real life and in sports. They are an extremely rare breed. Most pro-athletes are selfish morons and plenty of them were on the Lolita Express too

    Okay

    Good

Then we can devote our time to other things instead

Why would this be a bad thing?

You live in a bubble and genuinely need to interact with more small business owners if you truly believe this. Not even condemning you, seriously get some exposure to this group of people if you believe what you just said unironically.

I have friends who are small business owners

Yeah, when you’re struggling and have nothing, it can appear like you’ve sacrificed a lot. I know a number of them had to quit what they were doing, but the luxury is they can do something else.

Many of these pro athletes were literally on the verge of death growing up and dedicated 15 hour days revolving around the work out and conditioning needed to get to where they got. And they didn’t take weekends off. Most small business owners aren’t putting in that kind of work.

But why are you acting like that's exclusive to sports? Of course they're vastly overpaid but that's just a feature of the c word system. There are plenty of higher paid people that are less involved in the product they provide than athletes (owners for example). You haven't shown you have any problem with the overall system, just smugness towards sportsball players

I only have some respect for athletes who escape poverty through sports and don't become scumbags irl. Or at least ones who do serious philanthropic work outside of getting tax write-offs and magazine cover placements. Jim Brown and Muhammad Ali are great men, and they are also in the painful minority of athletes who do what they do/did.

Actually it would be 16 hour days and all we do thereafter is sleep in trees to avoid predators.

Survival of the fittest. If eating chickpeas and jackfruit while sleeping in trees during the winter can help you get to 30, good on you. I have my doubts, but I'm no scientist.

Yeah I think I’d rather do my mindless desk job for 4 hours, take a nap and then watch sports on tv while stuffing my face in pizza and live till I’m 80
