Mostly because trans athletes are looking for inclusion. Putting them into their own division is exclusion.

Ultimately I think the solution is just stick to weightclasses and the whole thing really should sort itself out forreal like that's the real no brainer move where everybody should be getting what they want.

I just don't know what advantages a 115lbs transgender woman is going to have against a 115lbs cisgender woman. Especially with doping regulations and other checks.

but competitive sports is exclusive when it's in the name of maintaining competitive integrity and that's why in basically every sport men and women are separated at a competitive level, like weight classes don't matter messi could sweep the world's best female soccer player under the rug regardless of weight class

With team based sports its going to be different of course. The weight classes and divisions will apply more to combat related sports and individual sports. IE: Boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, track/field, etc.

I'll also say that a lot of it still does come down to skill. A man who transitions to a woman is not automatically better than every woman in the team based sport they are competing in just because they were once a man.

this is an unnecessary appeal to absolutes. like yeah if I transition rn I'm not better than anyone in the WNBA, but if james hardon transitions rn guess what he's dropping 300 points a game it doesn't matter

Good thing I already spoke on what you're attempting to imply on the last page lol I'll even bold the most important for you.

Yeah never really know how it will go for something like basketball. Sure there is a potential size advantage, but ultimately it's still gonna come down to skill. It's just weird when people think a man who couldn't make it competing against men will suddenly decide to change their entire lifestyle and transition to a woman just to be able to compete against women. Like...people ain't changing their whole gender just for some sports lol there are way more reasons for that transition before we get to sports competition.

that big gotcha you think you have doesn't logically make sense tho...

like jee whiz if only there wasn't hundreds of pages in any popular sports league's rulebook that restrict players from gaining an unfair competitive advantage

    like what

Tell me right now. If a man who couldn't make it competing against men in sport suddenly decided to transition to a woman in order to dominate (as unrealistic and delusional as that sounds so I have no idea why anybody even attempts to make that ridiculous argument but I'll bite) how well do you think that is actually going to go over? Do you think anybody man, woman, or trans, team, sports league, etc. will take that athlete seriously at all?

  • It's the way that y'all genuinely believe men will transition to women just to gain an unfair competitive advantage that will never not expose y'all for how f***ing stupid y'all can be forreal

if it's so unrealistic then why is it a controversial thought in the first place

if there's concrete, scientific knowledge that a biological gender has an advantage at sports then surely a transgender athlete with nothing but good intentions in mind will concede and accept a division where they can fairly compete

Because people are literally just that transphobic and f***ing moronic that they will make up the most ridiculous f***ing scenarios in order to justify their transphobia...

Have you not been paying attention at all to the political scapegoating of the trans community that has been going on by right-wing politicians frequently attempting to liken transfolk to pedophiles, even though lately it's been way more right wing white men who have been getting exposed for pedophilia?

Then why didn't you answer what I said just 2-3 posts above? Very simple question and you can't even answer it. Almost is if you know the very premise of an athlete changing their gender just to gain a competitive advantage is absolute nonsense.

i answered it you just weren't satisfied with the logic of the answer

what is so incomprehensible about athletes utilizing holes in the rulebook to gain a competitive advantage

like the point of writing a rulebook where your sole intention is the preservation of competitive integrity isn't to go "hmm... while surely we can overlook this little line of text because ain't no way it will be used against us maliciously.."

man if there's a transgender athlete they will accept that they will have an unfair advantage over others in their sport. it is you who is demonizing transgender people with the thought that they're all just fiending to get into competition with women.

You are extremely unserious. But fine, I'll waste my time playing your moronic game.

If they do decide to make a trans-only division in sports...how well do you think that will go over? Do you think those trans athletes will get the same kinda recognition as the cisgendered men and women's division? Will they be receiving the same kinda pay? Will they actually be taken seriously on the worldstage? Would the Olympics actually recognize them enough to put them on TV?

I'll answer the questions for you because the answers are very easy given the energy towards transpeople in general. No. You and I both know that. Which is just another reason trans folk do not want the trans-only division. It is only going to open up an entirely different can of worms, which of course are never going to get solved because people will not care. Basically the entire reason why there's a push for a trans-only division. A set and forget it approach that can be easily ignored by everybody who is not trans. It's actually extremely similar to what they did with separating baseball between white only and the Negro League. The Negro League hardly ever got actual attention aside from a handful of players. The players were not getting the same kinda payment. And oftentimes, the Negro League was viewed as a "circus league" because the general public hardly took it seriously.

I'll also ask this question again since you love to just keep dancing around it because you're really not as smart as you think you are in order to discuss this. And I'm gonna put it in bold again.

Do you honestly believe that people are going to change their entire gender. Their entire lifestyle. Knowing what comes with transitioning genders in regards to surgery, finances, scrutiny, hatred, politics, etc, knowing that they can't change back...just for some f***ing sports?

you’re making a false assumption in your point that male and female athletes are paid the same at all, which anyone can tell you they are not. You’re also making a disgustingly transphobic assertion that it is only surgery, hormones, other sorts of treatment that can “make” someone transgender. If someone identifies as a certain gender that’s their own prerogative, not on the basis of whether or not they’ve had a surgery or not.
