s*** been outta hand for a while now tbh

my rule of thumb: tip servers and bartenders well. tip on pickup ONLY if I feel the food im paying for is FIRE and worth more than what im being charged. round up cents when at a coffee spot.
genuinely do not tip at pizza places or pickup places if the price is already high and i am a frequent customer at. almost never tip uber/dd beyond just rounding up to closest round number

Only waiters and delivery drivers (especially ones who pick out your items like instacart) deserve tips. Everyone knows waiters make nothing and depend on tips, and same with delivery drivers and they put their car on the line. Always tip your waiters and gig drivers.

Simply picking your own order up is an optional tip imo.

Your a pos for not tipping on Uber/dd. They are putting their cars on the line for a next to nothing payout. They depend on tips.

Idk about dd, but Uber eats only pays like $3 a delivery.

Most of the tips from those little computers go straight to the business and is simply finesse

I always ask the worker if they get the tips or tip cash only

i order delivery maybe like once every 6 months so im not really some repeat offender relying on the service. ride services i tip on more often now a days, but not much if im only taking the ride around the corner, which is usual this time of year for me.

Just make sure to tip your gig workers. Gigs don’t pay by the hour and it’s generally s*** flat pay. Tips are usually the only reason why people do gigs.

But they aren’t going to pay them more just because you think they should be paid more by them.

Those fees are for the convenience of the service, as ordering delivery from any restaurant was not a thing, even 20 years ago. Those fees mostly do not go to the driver, and knowing that you should tip or you are just as much the problem as these over capitalist corporations. If you truly believe those companies should pay their workers more than you’d boycott all of those services known for not paying their workers s***. Using the product anyway and not tipping is not fixing anything and I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a pos driver, as most apps show what you are getting tipped before you even take the order. So when you get bad service, it’s on you.

this is how like all tips work tho no? no waiter or waitress is taking the 20 left on the table for her and pocketing it, nor are they getting the 20 left with a card tip. unless im mistaken lol

  • Oct 19, 2022

listen i have no problem tipping my servers or general service workers

but if i go to a restaurant and place a to go order or just pick up an order, i don’t feel like i should have to tip. that’s where i agree it’s getting out of hand
