F*** Eminem I'm just playing in here lol
I esteem both verses pretty much equally for different reasons, and quite highly, never been one of my favorites on Blueprint though because of the beat
It's my least fav on the Blueprint bc the beat doesn't fit sonically with those soulful beats

To me it's not a skip because they both went in but honestly I find it jarring yeah
It was a collab between Eminem and Royce
Eminem made the beat..
Was originally gonna be for Royce album on Columbia but he could only have one Em feature according to the label so he decided not to use Renegade. And Jay wanted a song with Em and Em asked Royce if he could give it to Jay and Jay wanted it but wanted to take Royce verse off which Royce had no problem with. So Em gave it to Jay and Jay recorded a verse after Em. And left Ems unchanged.

How well do you think Eminem's content has aged though (in general)? Compared to other elite rappers he's definitely lacking in that regard.
Using this verse as a way to say he’s repetitive when he’s only rapped these topics about 2 times during the recording of it is invalid and nitpicky
Now the 50th track about Kim on Revival, sure. But this isn’t the case in this timeframe, but maybe if you didn’t focus on the little details just cause you didn’t like him, you’d realize this
So you didn't re-read his verse? cool.

He's a do-gooder, too bad he couldn't do good as a poster
And he still outselling your favorite rapper
If Sales had merit, than Will Smith is top 5 oat

In general? I appreciate the details more than the gestalt. There are lots of great interlocking parts (rhyme scheme, alliteration, consonance), but the content doesn't resonate with me at all. And honestly how it's delivered has become almost worse than the content itself because his delivery has gotten so loud and choppy.

he is not?
Nas is probably the sole reason we're talking about it like this today
How so? Due to Nas “bad ear” or something else?

His line on Ether has created and popularized the term.

Cuz nas rapped
"and eminem killed you on your own s***"
After that people started debating whether it's true or not
Every other collab has its in the moment discussion that fades out over time, the term renegade also wouldn't exist if nas didn't diss jay like that

This is what ppl like Rivers Cuomo and Kendrick have said about Eminem. They appreciate his "technicality" but no one ever says they like the content.
Also when Eminem himself talks about hip hop he only keeps it about the rhyme schemes.
Plus his influences like AZ, Redman, Masta Ace and Pharoahe Monch don't get studied as much bc they weren't as popular

This some weird ass revisionist s***

And people overlook the fact that line is provocative BECAUSE it's Eminem
Imagine if he said "Biggie killed you own your own s***", "DMX killed you on your own s***" or "Pimp C killed you on your own s***", it would be like uh yeah they did but so what
Because it happened to be the polarizing white boy that line resulted in a
moment

Makes sense, totally forgot about ether. Thanks
No
Yes. Nas never coined the term renegade as you are suggesting. Pretty daft thing to even imply
Him saying Jay got washed wasn't an opinion that he shared alone.

Prove it, liar!

Then who did? 💀
Who made it popular?
Do you have proof he didn't?
Eminem was a 30 year old man who made edgy music for kids to rage and be mean to their parents to
