People forget this was the CD/Napster era. Not a substantial amount of people who bought the album back then made the distinction that Em rapped better than Jay until Ether and moreso until file sharing software being the norm made albums accessible to the masses
Right
And even if some thought he rapped better, they didn't say it was a "renegade" bc that literally didn't exist as a term before Ether.
Nas has also created a lot of waves and terms and influenced hip hop as a culture a lot, so trying to take that away from him is ignorant and disrespectful.
Can't wait to see this debate again in 3 months for the anniversary!
ktters only talk about the same 10 topics and be gay

Even if he himself didn't, he planted the idea that would become the basis of provocation on internet message boards towards the mid to late 2000s. We were there, nobody was saying "renegaded" or "ethered" until like 2004-2007

"Stanned" wasn't a thing either :pog:
Stan was just the guy from Eminem's song, it's possibly that some Eminem fans jokingly identified as "Stans", but before Ether it wasn't widely used to describe a diehard fan of another artist.
Calling Jay a "stan" was a moment and changed music culture forever (at this point "stanning" even transcends music culture to popular culture as a whole lol).
Another constructive argument, keep em coming Einstein.

Do not step to me, I'm awkward, I box lefty
An orphan my pops left me and often my momma wasn't home
Could not stress to me, I wasn't grown
'Specially on nights I brought somethin' home to quiet the stomach rumblings
My demeanor, thirty years my senior
My childhood didn't mean much, only raisin' green up

Dope
hov was better than eminem his flow was more impressive and he was doing all the fancy s*** eminem was doing in his verses but wasn’t making a massive point about internal rhymes etc

Constructive argument?
Where is your constructive argument other than being a delusional mark?
Say s*** that's ignorant, insult someone then keep rolling out s*** takes that you put together with no basis other than being a cornball
Your whole shtick is weird and pathetic

We challenged you to prove us wrong and all you can do is come up with insults
tbh if nas didn’t say eminem cooked hov people wouldn’t claim that hov got washed cos he had the better flow, lyrics and the guy was actually spitting s*** that matches the vibe of the instrumental. hov was rapping bout his rough childhood not whining conservative parents don’t like a weird white dude who raps about raping his mom

You couldn't pull up nas saying the term renegade and called someone a liar because you are in a fantasy land when it comes to a rapper this thread had 0 to do with. You are not 'we'. All while you insulted me first you creep. Go touch some grass.

How do you feel about the narrative that Eminem "used his music as therapy", always hated that s***, like the media tried to present him as "sooo much deeper than those other rappers" and make an excuse for his lowbrow content
Jay related to me more, but that was prime EM cooking up on that beat. had to be a em renegade

Ok I'm a creep bc Nas has coined the terms Ether, Renegade and Stan on that Jay Z diss song and you can't prove me otherwise.
Jay can do them verses 100 times and still does thats why he's the best RAPPER of all time. EM took renegade to another level though. hence the debate. theres no question it was EM which made the song what it is

i hated that s*** cos they were always tryna make him more intelligent than he really is. idc how many internal rhymes and multi-syllable raps he did the guy wasn’t witty, smart or funny. his raps were way more misogynistic and homophobic than the rap at the time which is a feat in itself and the guy kept hiding behind the fact it was a character when really it was just him

Point out the ignorance please
We're waiting 😴
He didn’t, but it’s not as bad as niggas would have you believe.
Em verse just had more charisma but lyrically jay verse was just as good.

While he was cheating on his wife left and right, he also pistol whipped a guy that he thought she was seeing. He was as sick as the lyrics described.
Put on a fake accent and started wearing doo rags and s***, ppl were making excuses for him like he never really had the life of a typical white guy, but in reality he re-wrote his life.. cuz we know he was in a group with 2 other white guys and they were recording racist tapes.
He even lied about his age In early interviews

exactly he got exposed for mad racism and he wasn’t even super young when he was saying those things even then in like 2018 he called tyler the creator a f^^^^^ like come on fam that’s only 3 years ago. guys a very disturbed person who for all his influence to some of my fav artists serves no purpose to rap culturally or any other kind of way

That Tyler diss really exposed him
Surely a legendary wordsmith would be able to come up with a more witty and clever diss than the F bomb?
His shot at Earl was pathetic too dude was like "who" on some Diva s***. I thought he hated Mariah Carey?
