Welp @ovocrew you gotta be the one to make the thread
Nah that’s all you, we both know making threads isn’t my thing lmao
My thing is this: calling a song, ANY SONG, that not only debuted at #1, but managed to only drop one position to #2 in it's second week and hold on to that position in it's third week an underperformance, is ridiculous.
In her last era, Taylor Swift debuted two songs at #2 that had more points than Toosie Slide but because they didn't debut at #1, people called them a flop. They didn't reach #1 because Old Town Road was a monster of a single and no song was topping it. Didn't matter who dropped.
People need to understand these things. If you drop an album that sells 500K the same week another artist dropped another album that sold 600K, guess what? You won't get the #1 album. Does it mean your album flopped or underperformed? NBA Youngboy is about to get a #1 debut with less than 80K. Nav scored a #1 album with 70K. In another week, that's a #5 album debut. Party dropped an album in a separate week that moved 50K and he debuted at #8.
If Blinding Lights was a strong #1, Toosie Slide wouldn't even have debuted at #1. That's why this idea that anytime any major artist drops, they must debut at #1 and stay there for months, is stupid. The record for most #1 debuts is 3 songs. A record only Drake and Mariah Carey hold. A lot about songs debuting at that position has to do with timing and how strong the charts are at the time you drop a song. Drop when there's a monster song at #1 and you won't debut at #1, regardless of how big of an act you are. The main reason why Toosie Slide dropped to #2 is because of his unsteady streams are. It debuted with solid streams, but lost a bunch in it's second week. Same thing will most likely happen to the new Travis/Cudi song. Blinding Lights is low on streaming, but it's the #1 song on radio and that's what's giving it the edge. It takes months to peak that high on radio, so a new song spending multiple weeks at #1 right now with how low streams are, is unrealistic, for anyone. Only older songs that have gained enough on radio are doing that, which is exactly what Blinding Lights is doing. Say So got into the top 10 because of it's radio gains. None of this is hard to understand, but some people just want to be stupid trolls.
I agree with your opinion, these clowns don't understand how radio impacts charts. Also the only reason TS wasn't at #1 for multiple weeks was due to the excessive bundles by the weeknd and the significant huge lead he had on radio. in fact during that week didn't he also release a remix?
If the so called "biggest artist on the planet" did what his counterparts are doing with bundles these whole arguments will be invalid! Context surrounding the release is not being taking into consideration at all.
And the bs about tiktok is annoying dude made the song in January, he clearly tested out the climate of the pandemic with a losey
Travis Scott is also predicted to go number 1 apparently with no bundles
It really isn’t a feat anymore since BB’s rules are all messed up
All I’m saying is the single flopped by Drake standards but this doesn’t mean he’s a bad artist or can’t do better lol
The other two sheep clearly can’t comprehend anything else
I get what you tryna say, but like @thegreatdivine is saying, it’s not really fair to say a #1 song flopped lol no matter how long it’s been at #1...song is still doing incredibly well right now anyway
Just realized Views turns 4 in 24 hours. Damn
Can’t believe it’s been 4 years, I still remember getting hyped after he released that trailer

I don't know what that dummy is saying, but Travis is using bundles for his single. The song is also getting a boost from his Fortnite event. Highest in the Room also had bundles.

Didn’t know he was using bundles for this new song tbh

He's made new bundles available. These were the only ones on his site as at Friday.

Drake don’t be doing any of this ish lol, I remember Taylor S did bundles, even Kdot with Damn.
Can you imagine drake doing this with TS or with his next album? The whole industry will be crying especially Cthadog. lol
All that nonsense for one week at number 1. Future the Prince needa get banged in for approving this.

Travis can go to #1 with s***ty throwaways without even releasing a music video like he did with Highest in the Room, yet Drake stans still cream their pants over a #1 in 2020 as if it means anything at all these days

Honestly man dropping to 3 isn't a flop, that's still really good. A flop would be like Heartless where it drops second week out of the top ten.
He's made new bundles available. These were the only ones on his site as at Friday.
Ok but have you seen the streaming numbers? Those aint no joke it's already at 30 million and will probably reach 50 by the time this week ends. Bundles help a little with this but this is driven mostly by the streaming numbers

Toosie Slide had 55.5M streams in it's first week. That's not the point. The point is that it'll lose most of it's streams in it's second week and will probably end up spending just one week at #1.
“All the real niggas, they gon Toosie Slide to this” - 1:57
F*** the charts now, TS is real nigga approved now
