I understand that but he hit #1 like we expected him to lol you gotta keep in mind how much blinding lights has blown up, song is a monster right now
Travis Scott is also predicted to go number 1 apparently with no bundles
It really isn’t a feat anymore since BB’s rules are all messed up
All I’m saying is the single flopped by Drake standards but this doesn’t mean he’s a bad artist or can’t do better lol
The other two sheep clearly can’t comprehend anything else
I agree, underachieve maybe but even that might be the wrong word. I personally think Drake’s most commercially underachieving song is Feel No Ways. How did that song only peak at #16? Arguably his greatest pop song ever and it doesn’t even enter the top ten? No doubt in my mind if he releases a song like that as a lead single it’s going number 1.
Oh it’d go #1 easily lol no doubt
And you know what they call you ? A brainless sheep incapable forming any opinion that doesn’t please the other sheep
Now run along sis
Amongst everyone here, you're the one with the stupid opinion, dummy. Only a fool would expect a loosie to perform like a lead single. Even when the song debuted at #2, Drake called it a warm up ting. The song was never serious to begin with and anyone who heard it would know that. Only an idiot would be mad that a song that's viewed like that by it's creator didn't spend multiple weeks at #1. It didn't have to. Even if it didn't debut at #1, it still wouldn't have been a flop or an underperformance. You have no grasp on how singles work and that's why you came in here with tears in your eyes, crying that the new Drake song didn't spend as many weeks at #1 as you'd have liked. I don't even know why you brought your stupid self in here 3 weeks later. It left #1 2 weeks ago. Move on.

It was an album track. They really can't be hits at all unless they go pretty viral, let alone in 2016 when streaming hadn't fully taken force.
I would say his most underachieving song is Signs (I remember people saying his hype was over after it flopped ) or I'm Upset given it was fudged in the middle of 3 humongous #1 hits.
Both songs were not of the best quality though, so I'm fine with them not being hits.

People were saying he should take a year long hiatus after signs dropped or he’s gonna decline quickly

You should really use this energy to go stream Toosie Slide and keep it from falling off the charts
You really typed all this dumb s*** 😭
Also it’s about time we let this thread fizzle
We can’t let this get to 100 lol
I’m referring to the biggest artists on the planet
T Swift, Drake, Adele, Ed Sheeran should all have an easy time locking down #1 easily
Ed Sheeran only has 2 number 1s. Both in 2017. He couldn’t lock down the number one spot even with Justin Bieber on his lead single “I don’t care”. Taylor Swift doesn’t have a number 1 since 2017 either. I think Adele would have the easiest time locking down a #1 with ease but she drops so infrequently that she always comes correct. Also Adele is bigger than Drake, didn’t she sell like 3 million first week?

Album thread deserves more numbers maybe after we get news or single drops

This era’s dominating by streaming lol
Those artists do better pure sakes but have weak streaming audiences, regardless if they’re struggling to go #1 despite having massive canvases then that’s a flop to me 🤷🏽♀️

Don’t know much about swift, but Sheeran has no trouble on streaming. He literally has the most streamed song on Spotify and it’s not even close. Something like a 30% lead over number 2. I imagine swift is the same.

Views album thread did like 25 pages a day
Fam, you’re aware you can say something is debatable and not agree with it right? It’s being open minded
My thing is this: calling a song, ANY SONG, that not only debuted at #1, but managed to only drop one position to #2 in it's second week and hold on to that position in it's third week an underperformance, is ridiculous.
In her last era, Taylor Swift debuted two songs at #2 that had more points than Toosie Slide but because they didn't debut at #1, people called them a flop. They didn't reach #1 because Old Town Road was a monster of a single and no song was topping it. Didn't matter who dropped.
People need to understand these things. If you drop an album that sells 500K the same week another artist dropped another album that sold 600K, guess what? You won't get the #1 album. Does it mean your album flopped or underperformed? NBA Youngboy is about to get a #1 debut with less than 80K. Nav scored a #1 album with 70K. In another week, that's a #5 album debut. Party dropped an album in a separate week that moved 50K and he debuted at #8.
If Blinding Lights was a strong #1, Toosie Slide wouldn't even have debuted at #1. That's why this idea that anytime any major artist drops, they must debut at #1 and stay there for months, is stupid. The record for most #1 debuts is 3 songs. A record only Drake and Mariah Carey hold. A lot about songs debuting at that position has to do with timing and how strong the charts are at the time you drop a song. Drop when there's a monster song at #1 and you won't debut at #1, regardless of how big of an act you are. The main reason why Toosie Slide dropped to #2 is because of his unsteady streams are. It debuted with solid streams, but lost a bunch in it's second week. Same thing will most likely happen to the new Travis/Cudi song. Blinding Lights is low on streaming, but it's the #1 song on radio and that's what's giving it the edge. It takes months to peak that high on radio, so a new song spending multiple weeks at #1 right now with how low streams are, is unrealistic, for anyone. Only older songs that have gained enough on radio are doing that, which is exactly what Blinding Lights is doing. Say So got into the top 10 because of it's radio gains. None of this is hard to understand, but some people just want to be stupid trolls.

Just checked the numbers, “I Don’t Care” has the number 2 spot for most streams in a day on Spotify (and was number 1 before being dethroned by “All I Want For Christmas Is You” 5 months ago. Nobody said Sheeran flopped. Anyways everyone is getting too worked up on this thread lmao y’all relax. No need to attack Sunny, everyone’s entitled to their opinions.

All I implied was the worlds biggest artists should have no trouble maintaining #1, the song was marketed with a viral dance lol but it clearly couldn’t beat BL the second week
In my opinion it’s a flop, you’re entitled to believe whatever lol

I'll lock the thread when a new single gets announced/released. Until then, it's still doing well enough on every metric to keep the thread open. All I even do is post radio updates.
My favorite thread ever tbh
Just realized Views turns 4 in 24 hours. Damn

That’s a good idea

Eh the dance went viral then sizzled out. I’m saying there’s no need for people to attack you for your opinion. I respect your opinion but I think you’re seriously underestimating just how hard it is to go and stay number 1. Only reason TS even went #1 is cause the charts are weak as hell right now.

Welp @ovocrew you gotta be the one to make the thread

Oh yeah I agree, but at this point I don’t even think it’s trolls I just think people have ridiculously unrealistic expectations for him and they think he has to meet them since he’s #1
