Let’s have a discussion about rappers that are lyrically superior vs those that are artistically superior. It’s rare we have both in the same body and by both I mean like Lupe level vs Kanye level.
Thats more important? To me it’s being a top level artist
Are the. Drake, Kendrick, Kanye, Travis of the world much more impactful and beneficial to the culture than a Royce, Benny, Jadakiss, Fabolous
Both are of course important but what would you prefer?
Kendrick would be in both
Wouldn’t really consider him a top tier lyricist tbh
Wouldn’t really consider him a top tier lyricist tbh
I can see why you wouldn't
ok but he still raps at a high level for most of his songs. Jay has sacrificed lyricism for a song. Nas. Em. Wayne that's what happens on some songs.
Point is Kendrick is a top level lyricist.
Both are important but it's better to be good at both. The all-time great MCs tend to be good at both
I can see why you wouldn't
Like don’t get me wrong he still is a solid lyricist but wouldn’t put him up there with Nas, Jay, and Lupe ya know
Explain why not, and where he is cause yall wrong til proven otherwise. He not on a Kanye level artistry but he has proven and shown cases of it throughout his career
A combination of both would be ideal but if I had to pick one I would pick an artistically superior rapper. Mainly because a song doesnt need to have amazing lyrics to be enjoyable
Explain why not, and where he is cause yall wrong til proven otherwise. He not on a Kanye level artistry but he has proven and shown cases of it throughout his career
wayne doesn’t have an album that conveys overall concepts outside of maybe rebirth which is a dogshit album
Lmfao tripping. Explain how not
Still can hold it up lyrically but artistically he really fell off. The song structures feel stagnant, kinda lost his ear for production, and just doesn’t make solid music all around nowadays. Which is why his music’s replay value diminishes fairly quickly
Whatever Young Thug is
