I don't understand artists who don't want their music sampled. The new generation never gonna be exposed to your art

With the amount of new artists taking old samples and making extremely s*** versions of the song since your post from 2021...yeah I totally understand why the old artists are protecting their songs lmao

Trust Barbz to incorrectly use the race card when they want Nicki sympathy.

She has never allowed samples for her songs. She is actually on a DO NOT SAMPLE list for the industry — artists who will not ever clear samples.

Covers are different. They aren’t using her art against the original purpose or reconstructing it to something new like a sample I’m guessing is her reasoning. Although if she doesn’t want to be sampled in general she just doesn’t regardless of reason. It’s her choice.

She ended up suing Nicki because Nicki finished the song even when she never got permission to use the sample and was repeatedly denied. Then on top of that, she clearly leaked the song to the public when Tracy denied it being used. Hot 97 premiered the song… radio stations only premiere leaks when the artist sends them the song.

Even if they didn’t officially release it, she still did the song against Tracy’s wishes and then still made sure it got out to the public which was also against her wishes.

Nicki disregarded that woman’s wishes for her art, yet Barbz are turning HER into the victim. This is exactly why Nicki thinks she can do whatever tf she wants and is above being told about herself lmao.

    Foxy.

She tried to step on Baby Can I Hold You Tonight too. But the song still became a classic.

I agree with the first half, but the song was already made before she asked for clearance.

I agree that was most likely the case, but it obviously looks bad once the artist says “no you cannot sample my song” and you have a completely finished song with the sample and proceed to get it out to the public. It’s not hard to understand why Nicki got herself in that lawsuit lmao.

Ideally you’re supposed to get permission first before using and then also not still proceed to leak the song with said sample used after being denied permission.

Had she not leaked it to radio on purpose the lawsuit would’ve never happened.

Yeah but as long as the song wasn't commercially released for profit I don't really see the issue. Like that's commonplace in Hip-Hop

I think it’s the fact that if she is strongly against her work being sampled, it’s not a matter of another artist making profit but she just doesn’t want her art being used/referenced in that manner period to the public.

Purposely putting the song out for free on a radio station in NYC for millions to hear and then permanently be online for consumption goes against her wishes for her art even if Nicki didn’t make profit.

She still tried to be sneaky against her wishes lmao. It didn’t have to do with money but moreso Nicki just being Nicki and ignoring the principle.

Nicki Minaj and her stans are dumb as f*** and don't even respect musical artistry. All they care about is numbers.

Barbz are the ones still revisiting and bringing it up for discussion 3+ years later refusing to move on so clearly I’m not the one who cares so much about it

But I know you have been through a lot this past week seeing Nicki’s legacy and respectability get completely desecrated and laughed at. I can understand why you’re so defensive currently!

Wdym? You’re one of them - have been up and down every thread this week mentioning her name on frontline defense embarrassing yourself.

I get publicly admitting to being a Barb at this point tho is not an easy thing to do.
