I agree with the first half, but the song was already made before she asked for clearance.

this is how music works. you dont clear song till after it is made.

Trust Barbz to incorrectly use the race card when they want Nicki sympathy.

She has never allowed samples for her songs. She is actually on a DO NOT SAMPLE list for the industry — artists who will not ever clear samples.

Covers are different. They aren’t using her art against the original purpose or reconstructing it to something new like a sample I’m guessing is her reasoning. Although if she doesn’t want to be sampled in general she just doesn’t regardless of reason. It’s her choice.

She ended up suing Nicki because Nicki finished the song even when she never got permission to use the sample and was repeatedly denied. Then on top of that, she clearly leaked the song to the public when Tracy denied it being used. Hot 97 premiered the song… radio stations only premiere leaks when the artist sends them the song.

Even if they didn’t officially release it, she still did the song against Tracy’s wishes and then still made sure it got out to the public which was also against her wishes.

Nicki disregarded that woman’s wishes for her art, yet Barbz are turning HER into the victim. This is exactly why Nicki thinks she can do whatever tf she wants and is above being told about herself lmao.

lol you hate nicki so much you delusional.

And you don’t purposely put the song out to the world when the song is not cleared and the artist made it known they will not be authorizing release Weird how you choose what to understand

Artists finish songs before they send them to sample clearance. Why are we actin dense about this. The people clearing song want to hear the finished version or most of it. DJ Khaled spoke about this as well how michael jackson estate wanted song to be cleaner. Similar thing happened with nicki thugs juice song called money with monty python people.

So are you against beatjacking? Cause its really no different. Are you advocating for everyone to sue Lil Wayne?

I’m advocating that if it is legally required you get someone’s permission to use their art and they deny, then you probably should not still use said art and then release it to the public in some form.

Any liability at that point is in your hands.

back in the day rap artists would never reveal their sample if they could get away with it, that's why shook ones part 2 was so secret for like 25 years. a big artist like nicki should know better though. big w for tracy

What if you make the sample so obscure that it's hard to even tell what it is in the first place
