This is false equivalence, unwise to build your argument around that

Why is a height advantage after HRT different than male puberty exactly

the gap between lebron and your average nba player is still lower than the gap between your average trans female athlete and cis female athlete

Then why are all womens sports leagues not being dominated by transwomen?

And the comparison is the advantage of being taller than 99% of the population vs the advantage of having gone thru male puberty after HRT

The pool of players is low rn. There aren’t a lot of trans athletes compared to the number of cis female athletes

Even after hrt trans women are still able to out compete cis women. Just like no amount of hormones can make a trans man competitive with cis men

You're speaking in absolutes but that's ofc not the case, the advantage of transwomen exists, the question is how much? It's definitely less than being taller than 99.9% of the population.

Also would that mean that trans men should compete against cis women?

6 ft is taller than 82% of men in the US

I'm not denying transwomen have any advantages (the scientific literature on it still isn't conclusive on that), but i'm just saying that people are focusing on this one relatively small unfair genetic advantage instead of the genetic advantage of being taller than 99.9% of the population, and there really is no reason for that because it's not like leagues where transwomen are not excluded are being dominated by transwomen, but the NBA is being dominated by people taller than 99.9% of the population

why is one unfair genetic advantage which actually has more impact not a problem less important than another unfair genetic advantage which is way less impactful? it usually just comes down to the fact that the people who focus on the latter have an agenda that has nothing to do with keeping sports leagues fair or whatever

It’s because the people within the bracket are the same s***
Two males born . One grows up to be 6 foot 2, The other grows up to be 6 foot 9

The first one is Steph Curry, The other is Lebron James. They both have won 4 nba championships

Steph used his height and weight to his advantage by being quick. Changed the game by developing his ability to shoot 3s in order to overcome his own personal deficit of not being as physically strong and tall as the other players

So being tall can give you an advantage in some areas, and disadvantages in another area. Is there kind of a minimum height? Sure. It’s basically 6’2 (at this point, used to be shorter)
But that’s like saying it’s unfair that people that have a 90 IQ most likely won’t be the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies
Just like a rollercoaster there’s a minimum to get in, but then after that it’s Any body’s game

But it's not just a minimum height, the taller you are above that height, the less skilled you have to be. Being taller is always gonna be a net positive and the only people who would deny that is mfs that never hooped

Nah I don’t agree. When it comes to sports I think the advantages of being a trans women far outweigh the benefits of being 6’5 or whatever.

And to answer your second question I think there should be a third league of division where anyone can compete

Even if there are biological advantages the main thing should be that we are a fraction of a fraction of people lmaooo, falling for the whole trans women taking over women's sports is so stupid because we simply aren't numerous enough to do this s*** in the first place

I think we should exclude tall fellas from basketball leagues since short men are already marginalized in various aspects of life

Or at least create height divisions

Nobody wants to watch a bunch of short men play basketball, just like nobody wants to watch a bunch of (overly) tall men play basketball

The ideal height of the players, in comparison to the entertainment value consumed by customer; is relative to the height of the basketball hoop itself. If all the NBA players were only 5 feet, more ppl would watch the WNBA than the NBA. If all the players were 10 feet, same thing. Because one would be too hard, The other would be too easy

Which, if the WNBA lowered their rims by a couple inches, more people would probably watch because that would open up dunking which adds another dimension to the sport and makes it more fun to watch

When it comes to basketball it absolutely is a much bigger advantage to be tall than to have gone thru male puberty. The advantages in strength significantly decrease after HRT.

There are proportionately way more ridiculously tall people in the NBA than there are trans women in WNBA (if there even are any)

And who would participate in that third league? Trans men and trans women? There are gonna be advantages there as well

Fwiw i agree with lowering the rim for women but you're not really adressing the actual argument

It’s not about taking over it’s about taking someone else’s place

If the sport in question is highly important to the trans person in question, I don’t see why they wouldn’t just make the personal sacrifice to compete in the sport that has the category of people they share the same s***that they themselves were born with

Sports are a privilege and are a business. Personal life and affairs don’t really have any place in them , for men nor women. If it’s the day of competition nobody is gonna care if your mom died that morning you still gotta compete this afternoon or else you lose

Even after HRT they’re still able to outcompete women and are physically capable of more than women are.

I hate to keep bringing it up but the fact that trans women over compete and trans men under compete should show your right there that the biology is still there

Do you know who Bol Bol is? Or Tacko Fall? Or even Rudy Gobert? Being “taller” isn’t always a positive if you start to become too tall. You will be too slow to be able to react to someone like kyrie Irving

And like I said; the ideal height of the player is relative to the height of the rim… nothing else

And the warriors just beat the Celtics in the finals, despite being a much shorter and not as physically strong team
