The answer will always be Wayne Op. I don’t know how this thread got this far without someone saying it
threads like this are so lame because they’re just some oldhead trying to find a figurehead(s) that they can point their finger at as for why they’re out of touch
Feel like the out of touch thing doesn't work anymore cause the stuff isn't selling and the artist aren't as big.
Ur tripping sack lol coffee bean is prolly the most introspective Travis had been at that point, as shallow as it is
Didn't someone on ktt2 do a deep dive into the lyrics on coffee bean and it turned out to be just nonsense?

Whoever they are, they’re dumb
The genius annotations aren’t a reach
Playboi Carti is a continuation of the ethos that hip hop was founded on, but I digress

as a huge carti fan that feat was trash
Thats cause it was additional vocals, not a feature

2017 soundcloud era Carti had so much potential its a shame what happened to him
I guess it paid off commercially for him

You wanted him to do cheif keef impressions over pierre bourne forever?

Pierre is so talented. So many of those beats were 2-4 bar loops that didn't get repetitive and had their own distinct sound. Arm and Leg, Molly, Flatbed Freestyle, Kids are all amazing beats but they probably took him like 15 minutes to make
2017-2019 was peak Carti IMO, I'll get hate for this but WLR wasn't that great outside of a few songs. It all started to go downhill with the extreme baby voice.
Although in 2017-2019 I was still in high school so maybe I just grew out of his music

Carti is the new Dead Prez, Public Enemy etc

So you dont like baby voice, but like 2019 Carti, and dont like 2020 onwards Carti because of baby voice, even though he stopped using it before WLR
I think you might just associate his older music with simpler times breh, and that’s okay but you should face that truth instead of wishing for artists to downgrade back to old sounds

Just wish they took their writing more seriously. That nigga has never picked up a pen or typed on his phone even lmao

Nah I liked the OG baby voice (Pissy Pamper) but he just took it way too far.
And I don't really prefer the deep voice today

he just tried different things. it didn't always pay off and yes I think the s/t is still unsurpassed, but he's remained an interesting artist even if all these new songs he dropped this year aren't amazing. WLR had enough all-timers on it that I was satisfied.
Ive noticed that niggas just want people to rap the exact same they entire careers and for rap in general to have not changed at all in 50 years. what a sad way of thinking

Nothing wrong with trying new things in my opinion. I respect artists like Drake and Carti for experimenting with new styles over the years.
I just simply don't like Carti's new styles, much like other people don't like when Drake experiments with new styles
