scihoiI can see the argument for Travis as an artist, he has good beat selection and has shown he can craft a great album. The mixing creates good atmosphere and tracks flow well. He’s a bit of an auteur. Future has some awesome projects but they seem more like collections of songs than cohesive units.
DS2 is stellar because the songs on it are dope, but it’s not much more than the sum of its (very solid) parts. Rodeo has some misses but I’d rank it above DS2 personally.
As a rapper though, Future no contest. Travis thrives on “vibe,” not on rapping ability.
Trav can’t do the grandiose thing without falling flat and getting boring. He’s overambitious where future is overly cautious. DS2 is like a wayne album that’s doesn’t beat a dead horse. Rodeo tries way too hard. It does achieve that cinematic feel, but the music suffered because of it.
Travis has the best style in the game reviled prolly only by The Weeknd. But he hasn’t even got close to a classic album cause he’s simply not mature enough.
DS2 is a straight up classic. SAVE ME is maturity and vulnerability.
Travis still hasn’t even come close to fulfilling his potential.
