I’ve been trying to figure it out

After finding out it wasn’t real as a kid, I immediately dropped it and moved onto MMA.

For any adults who know it isn’t real and still tune in and talk about it, do you guys treat it more like a soap opera? Like when it’s grown men live-tweeting about it n s***, are yall tapped into it like as if you were watching a new episode of a popular tv show?

  • Jan 6

I’d also understand just looking at it like performance art and being a big fan of it in that sense too

Most adults are invested in it as a soap opera, no different to any other show even tho it has its niche

Just a cool lil showcase of drama and athleticisim and I really like how they try their best to blur the lines of reality.

100% the soap opera and performance art type s***. Not a fan of the tweeting though.

I will say though if this was the 90s/early 2000s wrestling period, i would be way more hype and actually try to go to the shows. Probably because of what you can do with "TV14" and not PG, etc. the show does need a little bit of edge to truly stand out like that

most people probably just consume it like any fictional product but once you been watching from kid to adult and get into all the terminology and backstage factors on how they come up with who “wins” its just a niche form of entertainment thats hard to explain.

And IMO a lot of it is a parallel with rap to where alot of the appeal is people playing fake booker/a&r semi hate consuming it to say “man they should do it like this” the same way we all listen to new rap to complain about it lol

I like catching some of the promo segments and maybe the last 5 mins of big matches but the actual matches are boring as hell to watch most of the time im not gonna lie lmao

Lmao you got me but at the same time thats kind of the neat thing about it

That level of independent wrestling and Westside Gunn being kind of an artsy niche type artist kinda matches up perfectly. If he keeps quietly doing it it will be a cult iykyk 90’s ECW type thing
